I don't understand those who are trying to use the argument that the ref's review and subsequent determination of OKC ball was a 'makeup call' for the lack of a foul call on Barnes. The foul on Barnes is completely and utterly irrelevant when reviewing a replay to determine possession at the end of a game. No outside external factors other than 'who touched last' should come into play. Having sympathy for a lack of a foul call that affects the simple and straight-forward determination of 'who touched it last' is beyond the scope of the rules, and, if that is what happened tonight, is incorrect and should not have gone that way.

Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

The NBA really needs to fucking change their system. We have so much technology and so many resources at our disposal this kind of shit is ridiculous in this day and age and it fucking happens ALL THE TIME. Apparently the NHL has a central command that reviews all the plays, there's absolutely no reason the NBA can't do the same.

Refs don't understand their own rulebook. Shocker. What else is new.

Still rooting for OKC though.

Wtf was Reggie Jackson even doing on that play. He's running a three on one with FUCKING DURANT AND WB NO LESS and he holds the ball?!

If that call went the other way (it should have) I would have absolutely hung an quartered him for that.

The refs missed the obvious foul and then the obvious ball off Jackson. I think it absolutely was a makeup call.

Neglecting all that the Clippers absolutely choked this one. Why Paul foul WB on that horrible three (and he did foul him. Got away with the same play vs Curry but not this time) is just criminal.

So much drama.

So glad CP3 got karma for that foul on Curry. Touching shooters elbows then whining and prancing around like a schoolgirl when he gets caught is just pathetic. He's also been doing these stupid 3 pt attempts when anticipating a foul all season, finally catches up to him. Paul singlehandedly blew that game with 3 bonehead plays in the last 11 seconds. If they play smart basketball the refs can't do anything. Clippers just choked hard down the stretch, also you're dreaming if you think CP3's gonna get a call on that last play. Lowry had a better case and I didn't think that warranted a call either.

Just took a peek at this and he does call it before CP3 hits his elbow. It was a foul but looks like he called something other than the elbow hit.

Yeah, true, all the drama overshadowed how bad CP3 was down the stretch with his decision making.

It gives them an easy out to blame the refs but they played awful those last three minutes. That's as brutal as the Dubs last year when they gave up a 16 point lead with 4 to go vs the Spurs.

Plot thickens. Maybe was OKC ball?

edit: if this is indeed the rule, it is OKC ball.

Ok, edit 2 (post rampage)... Brothers said the replay was inconclusive so they didn't make the decision based on this rule in the tweet. It's a little inconclusive but 95% that's off Reggie.

Read my post, the refs gave a different explanation. It also doesn't work because the ball is in Jackson's right hand and Barnes hits his left. The Clippers screwed up but they were also screwed. Add in Chris Paul being fouled on the last play of the game and Doc has every right to complain.

Yeah my second edit addresses that. Brothers said the footage was inconclusive. Reggie has both hands on the ball when Barnes swipes him so I think that rule does apply in the above context (just wasn't called that way).

Paul didn't deserve a bail out on that last play. It was great D by Ibaka and an awful play from Paul. Jackson barely touches him. Technically, probably a foul but I'd hate to see a bad play get bailed out there.

It's not a bail out (wtf?). He clearly gets hit by Reggie Jackson to turn the ball over at the end of game. I mean...seriously...I can't believe you just said that.

I don't think Jackson barely touches him, given the way the ball pops out. Jackson made zero contact with the ball, and the force on Paul's arm sends the ball away from him. It still would've been a difficult shot, but Jackson essentially caused Paul to lose control without getting ball.

Meh looked like Paul knew he was screwed and was trying to pass it to Blake. Ibaka had him covered and he wasn't getting off a shot there.

I really don't see much contact. Paul didn't even bitch about that play there--tells you all you need to know. He knows he messed up.

ok you're being silly now. Chris Paul couldn't pass it to Blake - guess why? Blake was setting an illegal screen. He moved his man about 10 feet before Paul even got to the paint and held him. You should really, really watch that last play in it's entirety.

I've watched it from both angles again--Ibaka got the better of him.

He doesn't complain about a foul because he know he mucked up.

edit: he wasn't trying to pass to Blake though, you're right. But Ibaka had him cornered.
