WHOS YOUR DADDY NOW
whooo canada
I don't think mankind can comprehend how much shit will be talked if the U.S. goes on to win gold and Canada is stuck with the Bronze.
And sweet fucking Jesus, imagine if Canada then got upset and didn't even get a medal. It would just be too much. The world couldn't handle it.

My apologies :p I thought you were talking about the women`s hockey game in a hypothetical scenario.
i subscribe to the theories espoused in this article about why Russia has floundered on the international stage in hockey.
to me its all about economics. if Russia's economy booms and the average hockey fan has more spending money the KHL teams can raise their prices. then they can just buy the best hockey players in the world. in much the same way the NHL does now.
it was Canada v. Russia back in 1972 in a war on ice.
Now , the North American economy does battle with the Russian economy. the winner ends up with the best hockey league.
At this point, its North America in a landslide. However, the Russian economy has made incredible strides since 1989, do not count them out.

they play in 7-10k seats arenas. the money is coming from the pockets of the shady owners. How do you think they can afford to pay the Jagr/Kovalchuk/Radulov/Yashin absurd salaries without revenues from hockey?
Russian economy hasnt made terrible strides since 1989. It just transformed into an oligarchy of billionaire friends of Putin...
But any suggestion that the KHL will match the NHL any time soon is absurd. The KHL does not have a feasible business model. It survives off many hundreds of millions of dollars from oligarchs whose dubious fortunes were amassed when they ruthlessly bought up huge state enterprises for a song during the brutal months that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Which does nothing to explain why players take pay-cuts to come to the NHL in order to play in the "best league in the world."
You honestly believe that the Russians could possibly offer a guy like Jonathan Toews enough money to leave the NHL and go play in a foreign country for the rare opportunity to die in a plane crash?

shittalking shitpostin and shitgifing is reserved for those who stood behind their team the whole way SORRY BUB
shitty defective planes that crash, tarps for stretchers and unfufilled contracts are just a few of the reasons why the khl will never attract talent beyond aging russian stars or young draft picks looking to use the league as leverage

which all comes down to money.. and the strength of the russian economy.
re: the 2 wins... it strengthens Canada's case that they may be better than Team USA. obviously, 2 wins proves more than 1 win. But again, we need a BO7 or an 8 game series like 1972 to really prove anything substantial.

lol hey now... I think most people agree that the Americans had a better team on paper so you can't blame me for losing hope being 2 goals down. I was behind Canada the whole time!
p.s. you need to cancel your ban bet for tomorrow's semi otherwise I won't be able to read your analysis for the gold medal game
Russia has the 5th largest economy in the World. The average salary in Russia is under 8k$ a year. The league isnt funded by a sweet tv deal or juicy gate revenues. Its funded by a country club of billionaires.
so tell me more about the strenght of the russian economy having an impact on the seriousness of the KHL again JJR.

Well the Canadian women sure do have the US women's number in the Olympics. I think the US women have fared better in other tournaments tho?
