I just got back from Boston :D Checked out a ton of colleges/universities in the area and got to see some of what makes Boston a cool place. Unfortunately, the gym at my hotel was kind of shitty so I could only do whatever I was able to with a set of dumbbells and a flat bench D:

Uuugh tried working out early in the morning before work this week. Based on my 1 week sample size it sucks. Even amped up on caffeine I am just weak. Bench today I could feel the juice just leaving my body, like every muscle in my body was 10% weaker.

Guess it's just not for me. Anyone else have experience with working out in the morning?

I've never worked out in the morning, but I do find I simply perform less well anytime I don't workout in my usual evening slot.

I've been doing morning workouts for most of my "workout life". Might just be different people. I did have baby duty this morning so I'll report back how my evening workout goes ^^ If I hit all of my bench sets it'll confirm

Yeah I'm weaker in the morning, but on the plus side working out in the morning really makes you feel fresh during the day.

Slowly rising back up to form. Slow and steady wins the race right? Squats (135 for three sets of 10), bench ( 185 3x6), dead lifts 205 (3x6). Everything feels smooth feeling a bit more sore than usual, rest day today and back at it tomorrow. Hoping to reach two plates on bench in a month in a bit here. We will see. Just trying to keep my goal of consistency.

Wen't to La Fitness with my homie since he cannot get into my uni gym. He got me in for free, but they took my picture and got my phone number which as weird. The place was super clean. Carpet everywhere which was weird. My friends like "yeah dude stick to my program ill give you a good workout" So he's doing legs that day & I had just done squats the day before >< but i figure what the heck, yolo. First exercise is Smith machine squats. I'm like uhh wtf where da free weights at. I go to the squat rack and theres a loaded bar chillin there thats been there since we arrived. I walk up to it and pace around it. Some really tall guy next to it says he thinks some guy is on it and points to some huge bro dude with a superman shirt like 50 feet away spotting his friend on bench. I go over to him and ask if those were his weights. He's like "yea bro i got like 4 more sets, sorry" im like "it's cool" and go back and do some lame ass smith machine squats. That shit was crazy, the dude was occupying the squat rack for so long and afk from it for so long in between sets i was like WTFFFF. Anyways my friend is way bigger than me and he loaded up the smith machine to 155lbs which was super ez. I finished up on the punching bags while he finished his machine-inspired leg workout and then we biked it 3 miles back home woot

Workout today:

Little old lady patient carry 1 x 2
Grown ass man patient carry 1 x 1
Obese patient carry 1 x 2
Why god why patient carry 1 x 1

Seems like the biggest people always live in the smallest trailers with no room to get my stretcher in to them, and I'm always on shift with the same 100 lb girl when we get a call for them.

Lower back is fried. There will be no real lifting tonight. RDLs and Rows tomorrow.

On the topic of morning workouts, I workout in the evening 4 days/week (~4 pm) and the morning once/week (7 am) and notice that morning workouts seem to always be the same. They're never great, but they're never awful. I do notice that I'm both more awake, and more hungry through the rest of the day though.

If I do legs hard at 9am I get nauseous as fuck haha. My sweetspot is definately between 11 and 14:00 for lifting.

Last Friday did 210lb bench 4,5,2 in the morning. This evening went for 215lb (pr): 3,2,x. Inconclusive Can't say I felt much different except I have a lot more phlegm in the a.m.

How would you guys work up to 215 bench(current work set max) for example?

If that was my max work set I would do something like 5x195, 5x200, 5x205, 5x210, then to Failure @215. I have been getting fairly linear progression lately by doing that for bench.

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling I'm doing way more warm-up sets than are warranted. Just kind of a habit to take each jump (135,55,75,85,95,205,215)

When I was doing 225 for three sets of six (bar,8x135, 3x185, 1-3x205 depending on how I felt, then 6x225 for three sets).

I don't know if that's the best but it's how I do my workouts.
