It's not that mou saw his decline and benched him, it's the other way around, mou caused it. Motivation is a huge drive for athletes at the top. Having said that Buffon is the best keeper of the last 20 years and an all time great. | ||

Benching someone is also terrible for his confidence which is massively important for someone to perform well. Just look at Robben and the difference between him when he's in form with confidence and without. He wasn't bad at all in the CL though except for the finals and he just continued his bad form into the wc. | ||
