Yeah Messi and Ronaldo stats are annoying because they are both still making numbers.
Comparing Di Stefano to Maradonna in stats is fair because they are not improving these stats every year etc etc.
When Messi and Ronaldo have retired then you compare the stats of each of them, until then you just go season by season or even game by game and argue who is the best. Like i said right now for me Suarez is the best player in the world (or was idk he is strange) but if Messi continues to carry this star studded Argentina side is much as he is doing now and takes them even just to the final he will go into next seasons domestic European program as the best player in the world.
But by Christmas he could be back to miss firing in La Liga and Ronaldo scoring goals at the highest domestic club level in the champions league for fun again. Then you will struggle to name the Ballon D'or again (Unless Messi wins the world cup that is, then well he wins it xD)

Messi has better unassisted shooting % because he attempts to take on defenders more than Ronaldo, so he's more likely to have a clear shot once he takes it. The article says as much:
"Ronaldo takes more mid-range shots but misses a lot of them; Messi tries to beat a lot more defenders, loses sometimes, and then makes up for it (and then some) by having better assisting and shooting opportunities as a result. That’s not to say one approach is better than the other, but note that it means that the observed shooting gap between them is at least somewhat exaggerated. "
The assisted shooting percentages are similar, but what if Ronaldo attempts a lot more headers at goal (lower % assisted shots?) than Messi (because he's 1.69)? Then comparing the two similarly makes little sense.

There are no arguments against this.
Henry, Ibra, Maldini, Ferguson, Wenger, Pep, Cruyff, rooney and a shitload of other coaches/players have said that he is the best.
But yeah, nothing stops you from thinking cristiano is better, xD.
