Transfer news: €20m deal for Sevilla's left-back Alberto Moreno is close to collapsing, as Liverpool started considering Daley Blind (Ajax) as their new left-back after his vintage performance during World Cup. Italian press indicates the possibility of Mauro Icardi's transfer from Inter to Chelsea. Shall The Blues be interested, this 21-years old Argentinian striker should be available for about €10m. In case of losing their star midfielder Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Fiorentina is prepared to launch a bid for 29-years old Mathieu Valbuena (Marseille), as a replacement for the Colombian. Fiorentina also seeks a backup striker for injury-plagued Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez. New reports claim that 31-years old Eduardo (Shakhtar) will arrive to Italy. Talented 18-years old right-back Sefa Nihat İşçi (Anderlecht) has rejected an offer from Benfica and might eventually end up joining Chelsea this summer. Italian side Genoa will sell their right-back Sime Vrsaljko to Arsenal, shall Gunners make a bid around £5.5m. However, The Gunners are likely to face a competition for his signature from Inter and Fiorentina. West Ham has just clinched a £7m deal for 24-years old Anderlecht centre-back Cheikhou Kouyate. Barcelona's Cristian Tello is set for a loan deal this summer and will probably have a lot of options, as Everton, Valencia, Porto and Atletico Madrid all seem to be interested. Swansea is close to completing the signing of 21-years old striker Luc Castaignos (FC Twente) for £6.5m.

He never actually recovered from his back injury and the whole "out 3 months" thing is actually good news since we now know when he might be back rather than have it be an indefinite amount of time. He probably won't get back to his best which is sad since he was a ridiculously promising talent.

Does he have brain damage or something? He told De Telegraaf: "Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United.

I am not a doctor but i would say it is the opposide of good, i think this is the last shot at his career. The "conservative" treatment has failed and now they perform surgery but the question is why not sooner if he is "back in 3 months"? Either this was necessary because he got a new injury were the question is how or it is really the very last option to do it that way because the surgery itself is dangrous. Either way it is not good news, back injuries are not like torn muscles or broken bones that can be fixed or grow back because it involves the whole movement mechanic. Its the same for Ribery (who maybe needs back surgery too) i expect him to leave Bayern after next season because he will be handycaped and not recover at his age to the necessary level to play for Bayern.
