Chelsea has had a killer transfer window thus far. Addressed major needs and brought in big time talents that would be good even if it wasn't a position of need. Well done by them. They should should be serious title challengers this year considering how close they came last year.

After having a day to think about it I think this is ultimately right. Arsenal don't need him. He burned that bridge. He was the club captain and he forced a transfer when the club needed him most. Why should Arsenal take him back now that Barca don't want him? We moved on.

Love not hate. I'd rather have Özil and Ramsey anyway.

I always wanted Barça to sign Özil over Fabregas. The price was not even close too.

Madrid got him for like 15M and sold for 50 a few years later.

I don't like Blatter, but he really knows how to get elected. His European opponents don`t stand a chance.

And apparently he even promises progress for football:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/11/sepp-blatter-video-challenge-managers-fifa

As much as it hurts to say it, if I had the choice between Blatter and Platini, I would choose Blatter, too.

Platini came out and said he doesn't want Blatter to stand for another term. No one wants Blatter to stand for another term in Europe, now it will just come down to whether there is enough people in Europe and probably North America/Australia regions to note vote for him and he will not get re elected.
Africans are corrupt so all those federations will vote for Blatter, then you have the middle eastern ones who will vote for Blatter too.
Just gotta hope Europe and selected others can really get enough votes to out him.

But Platini is horribly backwards when it comes to technology, and I doubt he can root out corruption. I really would like to see Blatter ousted, but replacing him with Platini will not help football as a whole.

Yeah no doubt but remember, Platini will never run for FIFA presidency due to if he doesn't win he will be out of all positions. He cannot be UEFA and FIFA president

Reason you let him run thinking he might win, he resigns as head of UEFA and GG we oust both Platini and Blatter in one election :D

All thought that is the reason i don't think Platini will ever run for FIFA president.

Blatter's comment the other day "We need to be prepared to play intergalactic friendlies in outer space....."

More transfer gossip:

Inter supposedly wants to swap their star Fredy Guarin for Manchester City's Stevan Jovetić.

Tottenham is the main favourite to sign talented 18-years old forward Sebastian Driussi from River Plate.

26-years old Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica is a target for Manchester United, Liverpool and Zenit.

Manchester United will have to fight a tough battle with Valencia for Benfica's Enzo Perez signature.

Spanish newspapers claim that Arsenal is interested in signing Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.

After failed talks with Napoli, Maxime Gonalons (Lyon) is now one of the targets of Arsenal.

The Gunners also want to sign a striker, with Jackson Martinez (Porto) and Mario Mandzukic (Bayern) being on the cards. The Croatian has been also linked with Chelsea, though.

Alex Song is on his way out from Barcelona, with MU, Napoli and Inter declaring interest in his services.

Dejan Lovren (Southampton) has handed a transfer request, most likely leaving for Liverpool this summer. The Reds are also preparing £30m bid for his teammate Adam Lallana.

That Khedira to Arsenal will most likely not happen I read somewhere that Ancelotti plans with him for the next season but then again I think he said the same about Özil last year.

Hope it works out for him. I'm so glad that he was able to win a trophy before he left Arsenal.

City have two of the best right backs in the league now.

Former German footballing great Franz Beckenbauer was provisionally banned from football for not co-operating with ethics prosecutor Michael Garcia, the Associated Press have reported.

Beckenbauer was a voting member of FIFA's executive committee in December 2010 when it chose Qatar, and Russia as 2018 World Cup host.

He is refusing to co operate with FIFA over the corrupt scandal in Qatar voting...he refused to answer questions of the man in charge of it. All FIFA do is ban him for 90days? What lol.

Yea pathetic. Australia should replace Qatar and Spain or England should replace Russia who shouldn't be allowed to host anything. Fucking Fifa.

Beckenbauer's explanation of this is, that he was ready to answer all relevant questions, but they were phrased in english legalese (?) that was too complicated. He asked for questions in german, didn't get them and then just didn't care anymore.

I'm not surprised. Legal English ("legalise) is incredibly difficult to understand for native English speakers, I can only imagine having to go through shit like that as a second language.
