I just find it weird that you mentioned this legend when there are people like Figo, Pirlo, RvP, Gotze etc. I got it from an interview with him which I read many years ago. He downright stated that he never enjoyed football and was only doing it for so long because he was really good at it and loved the money. It's very possible that this interview was exaggerated or wrongly translated or whatever, but I'm 100% certain I read it and I didn't have any immediate reason to think it was bs.
That interview was distorted I believe. He never enjoyed watching football, which was read as him not loving football. Like Steveling said Batistuta (along with Rui Costa), belonged to a rare breed of players who nearly gifted Fiorentina with an unlikely championship and their transfers ultimately helped save the club from financial ruin. I have to admit times seem changed, far too many players seem to be content on grabbing a quick paycheck.

While agents have an obvious stake and influence on the deals the player receives this statement is a huge exaggeration of that. An agent will always do what his client wants ahead of what makes them the most money, or they won't have any clients.
The job of the agent is to get what the player wants, and the good ones get what their client wants plus a little more.

That makes sense, guess I can attribute this one to mistranslation.
Honestly though I don't think Götze RvP (or Cashley for that matter) should be explained by money. They all went to clubs with a (significantly) higher chance of winning trophies - and for all of them it has paid off in terms of trophies.

Uh... look at my quote, read it again carefully. Where did I say an agent has "no interest?" I said agents have an "obvious stake and influence on the deals the player receives." But that doesn't mean agents have a larger influence on where players end up than the player themselves.
An agent negotiates the deals that a player receives and operates based on the leeway a player provides them. Some players might say to an agent that they're open to moving anywhere in order to make the most money, some players will say that they are going to a certain team and the agent needs to do everything in their power to make that happen. Some cases that come to mind are Alan Shearer to Newcastle for the former and Samuel Eto'o or any other star to Anzhi for the latter.

Chiellini is fucking hilarious ahahahahahahaha. He believe Phantom theory and searching for seven people who exactly looks like himself.
He shared Mehmet Topals pictures on twitter and wrote" He totally looks like me, only difference is that he has few more hairs than me."
And the third one is Adane Girma, Chiellini keep looking for people who looks like himself.

Wenger on the title race…It is very open, only Chelsea can lose it because they are in front and all the other teams can win it. on Liverpool and Spurs being back in it…
Yes, I always said that many teams are in it and it will be very tight until the end. on why every other manager says they are not contenders…
It's fear to fail. on what he means by fear of failure…
If you're not in the race you cannot lose it, if you declare yourself not in the race you cannot lose it, it's as simple as that. I think just that our job is to be ambitious and to try to win, and if we do not win to take full responsibility for that. It's as simple as that and that's how I see it. I say that yes we are in it [the title race], yes we will have a go for it, we will absolutely give everything to go for it and if we don't do it I will take responsibility for it, but I just see it like that." http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/extra-wenger-on-title-race-and-sagna
Mourinho on Wenger's failure comment:
'He is a specialist in failure. I'm not. If supposedly he is right and I'm afraid of failure it's because I don't fail many times. Maybe he's right. 'The reality is that he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware is failure. If I do that at Chelsea, eight years, I leave London and I don't come back. http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3669788 SHOTS FIRED!

magath to fulham could be a really good deal for both sides. in Germany, we say that magath is the "personified ass-kick for every player". so maybe he can make them fight harder.

The good thing for Fulham is that he can't buy new players right now, so no 40+ player roster until summer!

Again the Stadium looks half empty yet the chants are loud as hell.

A half empty San Siro holds more fans than most Premier League stadiums though.

At least their players will be in peak physical condition when they're competing for the promotion to the premier league next season xD.

Some players are "mercenaries" for a reason. Especially the players who come from poor countries often have a huge crowd of family and friends at home depending on them (not only on them giving money away but also on them lending money, opening businesses, hiring people etc.), people who would otherwise have no means to earn a decent amount of money.
Also having experienced true poverty might change the míndset when it comes to money hoarding and quality of life issues.

There's a good chance Magath might have lost his touch, but he was very successful in the past in similar conditions. Some players thrive under his hard training regime. He is not good with players who need encouragement or crack under pressure though.
