I dont buy the 'tired' excuse. Ever. He's a professional athlete. Play at 100% or get off the fucking field. I dont care how good he is. That goes for every player. What, so because he's a professional athlete, he has infinite endurance and can never get tired? Everyone's body has its limits, and even the most fit people would be worn out playing 90 minutes every 3-4 days while travelling across Europe. The reason why I said he's probably not used to playing this much is because he didn't play this much with Real Madrid. He got rotated more (since they have a deeper squad) and was subbed off a lot since Real would usually be winning anyway. See my edit. It's less about the amount of running than the effort put in. He's been lazy. yeah, he probably just doesn't care about what is arguably the most important game so far through the season..? he's having an off day for sure, but surely you don't think that today, suddenly, he decided to stop trying and giving it his best? He's been absolutely phenomenal so far this season, it seems weird to attack his character when he's having one of if not the worst match so far, rather than to try to find some reasonable, outside explanation. To be fair the Dortmund game was arguably much more important, the Arsenal players put a lot into that I am sure. yea maybe the dortmund game was even more important. and the previous game vs liverpool was also really really important. personally I'd probably rank this one as #1 because arsenal couldve gotten a 7+ point lead against most of the other top contenders, their matches against manchester united are typically the most important through the PL season, and I think arsenal cares more about PL than CL this season. But this just serves to explain why Özil is currently tired and playing below his par. But calling him lazy for having a bad game just seems kinda silly to me - lazy isn't something you suddenly become or suddenly stop being.
All that aside, you dont put Mesut Ozil in your team for "work rate". Someone just said he wasnt used to playing this much. That is true, but he wasnt just rotated in Madrid because they had a deep squad, early on in his Madrid career his endurance was a legitimate issue (especially in Mou team) I think it took him a dozen starts before he finished his first 90 with them.
Mourinho played him "despite" that, so that should say how valuable he is.
United werent particularly super impressive going forward. They nicked a goal and they defended well. Ozil putting a shift in does nothing to remedy what happened this game.
They got out worked, part of it may have been fatigue but I think on the day looking at guys like Rooney and Jones, United just really wanted it more.

Should be a good neutral match to watch after the disappointing (for me) Arsenal and Feyenoord games
edit: Llorente has been performing well lately.

Yeah Rooney and Jones were great that game. Jones was really bossing the midfield and breaking up Arsenal's attacks very well until the injury to Vidic forced him to play center back.
Juve already winning, 2nd minute goal from Llorente.

Poor Betis, owning Barça the first 30 minutes, and is now 0-2 :D Barça playing really bad but since Betis is such a offensive team,a they get these counter attacks and score :O Messi injured... again...
It's also incredible that Song doesn't start more games... Busquets is playing every single game for Barcelona and Spain and it's a miracle he hasn't been injured yet. It's also a shame that Pedro has been spending so much time on the bench... he's tied with Messi for best goal scorer for Barcelona with a lot less time on the field than Alexis/Neymar :s

Man, if Tito really ruined messi's health last season by playing him when he wasn't ready, well, I got no words for this.
|
Andrea Pirlo with a fantastic free kick. Give this man new contract already!
Juventus stomping Napoli way harder than 2-0 result indicates.
...and Pogba volleys his way into 3-0. If Chelsea wants him for 40 millions, they should probably go for it now.

I think Messi ruined his own health by playing during summer and saying he's fully operational when he's not, this season... Martino seemed to be doing good with turnovers at the beginning of the season, but after the first few games it got worse.... Piqué playing so much when he's the worst of our 4 CB, Bartra playing like a boss and getting replaced when Mascherano/Piqué came back. Busquets not resting at all except for today. If Adriano wasn't injured, Montoya would never play. Tello getting 0 minutes, Sergi Roberto/Dos Santos same... I'm really not liking this, we're going to be toast in February like the last 2 seasons..

Messi is at the point of his career where he has to watch out not to ruin body forever... I mean he is so young, but bad decisions could cost him his future...
I hope he realises that and makes more breaks

It's the coach's job to restrain and protect his players. Ofc messi wants to play every game, just like everyone else.
But it's not like that anyway, messi was injured but Tito decided to sub him in against pari and bayern, when he could barely walk. Either their doctors cleared him fit for a game wrongly or Tito tried to squeeze the living shit out of him.

What, he was around 50-60% against psg but against bayern he couldn't even run, clear as day.

Pogba is one of my favorite players, and as much as I'd love to see him go to the Premier League (with Arsenal, of course), I hope he stays at Juventus. Serie A will never go back to being what it used to be if the clubs can't retain their star players.
BTW Roma drew again so they lead Juve by just one point now.

What a goal.

That goal is just world class, really epic execution overall

anyone know what fergie said about pogba in his new book? if anything at all?
|
@Willy, I agree Barcelona definitely need to rest some of their key players more. It is crazy just how many games Barcelona play every year and it seems that the key players are always playing which is insane.
|
Pogba looking to be the lightweight version of Yaya, I really like him.

that goal is pure class. it's so good it actually looks kinda unintentional, like nobody actually tries to do volley with the outside of their wrist.
|
fergie said he especially regretted letting Pogba go and that was it lol.

There was a french documentary on Pogba recently. He said he made the decision to leave when one game, there was no Carrick, no Fletcher, basically nobody left in midfield and Ferguson, rather than play Pogba, fielded Rafael in midfield. He didn't even get subbed in during that game. He was so disgusted he made his decision to leave then.
Later when Ferguson knew about Juve's interest and Pogba's decision to go, he basically said "Don't go there, they are racists, they don't like black people" lol
