Beasley was caught on drug charges following his first week in the NBA, such a shame..and I wonder where all of Iverson's money went? Shouldn't be too hard to guess.

The problem with him and Beasley isn't that weed is destroying their game or mentality, it's that their mentality was fucked up to begin with. At some point you have to grow the fuck up and if your job doesn't let you do _______ and you care about doing your job, you stop doing _______, regardless of how you feel about its legality or risks. It's not about the weed, it's about caring about playing in the NBA. You know it's an automatic suspension if you're caught, and possibly more. It's really just a matter of priorities.

While it's possible that AI spent a lot of his money on drugs, it's not a certainty. A lot of professional athletes spend recklessly and ridiculously, including the very top stars. They all think that they have near-infinite amounts of money, and don't any steps to control their spending or track their finances. I have friends who work in wealth management, and they say that a lot of celebrities and professional athletes actually aren't that wealthy because they don't know how to manage their money and spend without care.

Agree, but I'm guessing that part of it may be due to the fact that smoking weed is so commonplace in society in general, including amongst professional athletes. If everyone else is smoking and not getting in trouble, then they'll think that it's perfectly fine for them to do so as well. It just turns out that some people, like Beasley and JR, are too careless about how they do it and keep getting busted. I believe I read something about how drug violations aren't even announced or made public by the NBA until an athletes 3rd or 4th violation, which makes them even dumber and more reckless. At that point, your argument should kick in, but these two knuckleheads obviously didn't get the memo.
