Since this draft class is so stacked it will be interesting to see how teams tank there season. I starting following basketball after Lebron James got drafted so idk if or how the 02-03 cavs tanked there season. Will teams throw away won games just like that? Or will the player just not put enough effort into playing ball?

All sorts of stuff. Coaches will play inferior lineups for longer stretches (rest starters more minutes at more frequent intervals), good players who have injuries will be held out longer, move tradable pieces at the trade deadline. Sometimes the players will do it subconsciously as well as the record plummets, they almost can't help but play bad.

I'll be really surprised if Oden makes a big impact for the Heat. I think the Heat was really the worst option for him. It seems to me that you either play really well or you don't get much playing time on the Heat. Look at how much the minutes of their players fluctuated even in the Finals. He's not going to be a 30 minutes a night guy, so he might not see much time at all. That's my way of looking at it.

He will hurt himself in Game 2 of the preseason and be out for the season and then retire. This guy can't walk 10 meters without hurting himself.

Isn't that kind of the perfect scenario for him? Clearly they can win without him so he can just come in, slowly ramp up his game shape and minutes and be a specialist/rotational player. There is no downside here for either side and huge, albeit far-fetched, potential upside. Win-win.

I hope Oden does well but I can't see him staying healthy.

I think the Heat are a good choice for him--he won't be relied on too much and will really just be relied upon to defend and finish strong at the rim (two things he excels at). He'll be nothing more than a backup type guy for 20mins per game but could be a huge boost on an already strong defensive unit.

Well, it's the best situation for him if he wants a free ticket to the finals I guess. But if he wants to play the most minutes and contribute the most, I don't think so.

I doubt he has many minutes in him TBH. I think playing 20mpg or less will be the key to him having any sort of NBA career from here on in.

Haven't heard that but his problems stem from the fact one leg is longer than the other. As you can imagine at 280lbs that place a lot of pressure on the longer leg.

I'm hoping he has a good, healthy season simply because he really has such potential and through no cause of his own, hasn't been able to achieve it. It really is kind of sad, both for him and the NBA product in general.

Look for an unprecedented # of Canadians to hit the NBA.

Basketball is now the #1 participation sport in Canada.
Basketball's rise is well deserved. The top level caretakers of the sport should take a bow. They have done a great job.

Hockey's demise is well deserved. Much of Hockey Canada's minor league infrastructure is hampered by politics, backstabbing and bullshit. I quit when i was 14 because it was becoming more like a job than a game. I was told in the booming baritone voice of my fat coach that i had a "weight issue". I was too skinny. Also, Gary Betman sucks he is just a lawyer that turned NHL hockey into everyone's favourite distopian sport: Rollerball.

Its so easy to get a game of basketball going with no adults around. Its dirt cheap to play. You don't have to worry about injuries.

AND 1 more thing:
Kobe Bryant is still the best basketball player on the planet.
