Vinny had trouble putting up points in the weakest division in hockey, against leaky defenses and questionable goalies. What is he going to do when he plays against a coherent defense and a top 15 goalie? For whatever reason he clearly isnt the player he was 5 years ago, maybe its all the injuries, maybe its the fact that TB was a headcase for so long and he lost his ability to play complete hockey, maybe he just doenst care since he has a cup and the money anyway. Either way, whichever team gets him, unless they have him playing a supporting role they will be sorely sorely disappointed.

Eh, I think if the price is right, most teams would love to have him as their second center. Def not the vinny of old, but good enough for second line minutes on most clubs I would think.

Shit washington has a hole for a second center now that Riberio booked. That would be a very nice landing spot for him.

vinny has averaged close to .82 PtsPG over the past 5 season, i think he can still be a solid 1C for 2-3+ years. also dont be surprised if clarkson gets 4.75-5M from someone, thats what im expecting at least

I wouldnt be surprised if he did bc people get overvalued on the fa market, but for a team like jersey who is watching $$ a bit, it really isn't worth it at that price, as much as he helps them a lot

vinny mabye could be a low end 1c somewhere, if he's got a good player to help him shoulder the load there

Clarkcson is definitely going to get more than Bickel, and he is definitely going to be a future buyout in another 2-3 years. Vinny, with him it all depends on how much money he goes for. If he gets paid north of 5 m, its not worth it for most teams. I could see a random darkhorse like the Blues go for it since McDonald is done and he would fill the same 2C role. But places like Toronto or Montreal are looking at him as their 1C and that will be a sorely sorely disappointing experience for all parties.

In a vacuum, ie without all the media bs, Toronto or Montreal would actually probably be ok for him. They've both got talent in the top 6 that he can play with so he wouldn't be the focus. I think that's the only way he succeeds in the 1 role. I think him in the top 6 but not as the lead producer he should be ok. It really depends on the term. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $5m ish for 2-3 years is ok for him. Like tt1 said, he is still a guy who you could probably bank on getting .8/60ish pts a year. That's valuable.

And yeah, Clarkson is getting more than Bickel for sure. I do like him a lot, but at the same time, I think he also benefited from a forechecking system that plays to his style perfectly. They are very similar players though. Grinder guys with a little scoring touch who can play top 6 minutes. It's similar to Avery at his peak (cept Avery was more of a smart passer than scorer, and Clarkson is way better than he ever was as a total player). Annoying as fuck players to play against, who have a little scoring touch. Do all sorts of stuff good but nothing great; the type of dudes everyone wants one of on their roster. Avery also got a ridiculous $4m deal too after blowing up with the Rangers.
