Pretty sure hiit cross training came before Crossfit, not the other way around :-P

Went to a circuit training class last night for a bit of fitness. An hour of rowing, ball slams, treadmill, agility stuff, etc. Holy shit i'm out of shape T_T

how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

It's ok. It really doesn't affect me too heavily in terms of daily stuff, but it can make it kind of hard to read and it can make it difficult to look at distant objects. I'll probably just have to ask to be moved up in my classes to the front, not a big deal in exchange for corrected vision imo.

It's not crossfit if he does it as part of a structured routine, with a regular progression plan. Plus those movements really aren't varied enough, he has no plans of competing in "crossfit" and he's not doing this exercise for its own sake, but rather to get better at boxing.

I like crossfit, I love watching the games, and I've even thought using crossfit programming before, but there's more to it than just HIIT mixed with strength training... and probably the most important aspect of it is the social one, anyway. Without that I really find it hard to call something "crossfit."

This is true. Working out wasn't functional until 1996, when Greg Glassman invented it.

I do poke fun at Crossfit a lot, but If i'm honest the Games were fun as shit to watch this year. How cool would it be to do a CJ ladder event like they had?

I moved gyms (same company, different local), so my gym is a bit different. Basically In lieu of a few more bikes and a full cable machine, we have more things like kettle bells, Medicine Balls, a heavy bag, etc).

I'm thinking of hitting up the kettle bells because Joe Rogan talks very highly of them in his podcast. Where can I find the basic swings with proper form and some basic workouts without buying fitness DVD's? I've tried to do a bit of youtubing, but some of them I see contrast with each other and none of them are from people/organizations I recognize, so I'm not sure what to trust.

defensive tackle and offensive guard. But I have had a spinal injury so I only played defense last night. I go to a small school (so there aren't many big lineman and smaller guys like me have to play line) and it's really tough when you have a 300 lb. guy in front of you that you have to block when you are only 180 QQ

That's awesome autoexec! I know that small school feel, my coach used to lie about my physical stats when it was listed in the newspaper because I was laughably lightweight, even for a DB.

Don't worry man, you'll be trucking those 300lb dudes in no time.

My rugby team had few 250 lb guys on it, and i had to ruck them (which is way worse than blocking imo) on a regular basis at only 170. All about body position though, get those hips in line. And eat your carbs. Whats the injury? And good luck with the season!

I scored my first football goal of ever in competitive soccer on Wednesday. Just started playing in a league this summer. Feels good man. Whole team was pumped and we won 3-2.

thanks for the good luck!

And yes, hip placement and how low you keep your body is everything when going up against bigger guys. I've really been trying to work hard on my technique, but I have noticed it is suffering due to not being able to go full speed in practice because of my injury.

The best that I can describe it is that my L5 is completely fucked lol. Pain shoots out to the side of my back and it's been nagging since January Finally went to a chiropractor and him adjusting my back seems to help a lot. I know that some people may not agree with the practice of chiropractors, but it is the only thing working for me at the moment. Good rest is what I need right now though, and I think that the next opponent may be pretty bad, so I might get to rest this week if my team doesn't really need me to win.

My coach lies about stats all the time xD Last year I was 5'9" - 165 lbs and he listed me as 5'11" 180 xD

Haha sounds about right. Congrats! Our rugby season starts up next week, can't wait to hit some people ^_^

Got a nice lift in this morning, got under a 141kg snatch (missed it behind) and cleaned up to 155 (pretty shitty, tired from 20snatches). Good to finally get in on a saturday when everyone can show up and there's 30 lifters going heavy. I'll put up some vids later.

Eveyones kicking so much ass in this thread.
Was squatting at the uni gym today & holy moly it was busy. Lines @ all the rax. Some dude came up to me though and said I had the best form of anyone he'd seen at there. He was a freshman but whatever, I was really happy. He asked me how I learned and I told him all about TLHF and how awesome we all are!
And before that me n this hot girl @ a thrift shop had a "moment" lol

I spent about three hours in the gym today, only doing snatches. It probably was too long but I did eat chicken sandwiches through the session...

I can't describe how much I love snatches. They're still unintentionally power snatches, and then I just ride them down into an overhead squat. They're still not even at my bodyweight. They're still held back by technique rather than strength. While it would be nice to be better at them, I don't really care because they're just so fun.

My ideal program would just be snatches, with a few deadlifts, ohp and pull-ups peppered in whenever. If only.
