I'm currently at about 130-135kg for my 3x5 (probably switching to 1x5 soon) worksets Squats. I have this weird problem if I go all the way atg that I can't prevent my ass from tucking under, which is a common problem, I think. I also feel like when going atg that I'm slightly "cheating" by bouncing the weight, kinda similar to the people I see bouncing the bar off their chest during benchpress.
So is it still ok if I only go the point of below parallel but not so deep that my ass tucks under? Or should I keep working on my technique, posture and core strength and aim for atg. Although, and don't quote on this, I feel like while doing Narrowstand, highbarsquats, it's almost impossible to completely prevent it. Bouncing in squats is fine, you're just using the stretch reflex of your muscles and tendons to get out of the bottom more efficiently. As for the butt wink, do your squats as low as you can before it happens. Keep on working on mobility till you can do it ATG. So, why is bouncing during bench pressing not allowed? You are using your ribcage more efficienctly to move the weight lol. You're supposed to get out of the hole in a squat by using the energy you store in the muscles that are stretched at the bottom of the movement, by bouncing you're just properly using the stretch in your hamstrings.
When you bench the power at the bottom isn't coming from a stretch like it is in the squat, also it's really not safe to be bouncing a big weight off your ribcage.

@Recognizable if you're not fat why do you want to lose weight? He's frustrated he's dropping in weight despite trying to bulk. At least you look bigger Rec ^^

Ugh remind me not to go so long without squatting again. 3rd day still sore lol.

lol belly presses
@Recognizable
Just different movements, you can use momentum in oly lifting as well, but not on the deadlift.

Was out cutting firewood this morning and got a bee sting on my left trap.
Did deadlifts and a bunch of other upper back stuff last night, so they were already crazy sore. And there's no better conditioning than working a chainsaw and throwing around hundred pounds logs for an hour. But between all of that, the cramping in my left trap is unreal.

There are few things in this life more satisfying than chopping wood.

It's pretty fun :D

An afternoon activity at my school was to chop wood in the winter. It's not as fun when it's 10 degrees F outside and everything is frozen.

Ya'll clearly dont do it that often :p. We heat our house with wood from october through late april. I cut and stack wood about three times a week for an hour when im home, because we burn ~10 chords per year and my dad cant do it himself anymore. The novelty wears off lol, its just something that has to get done to me.

Pulled over BW on deadlift today for the first time in just under a year. I hurt myself for the first time August 20-something of last year, so it will be a year next week. I started at 1 plate, so that's 60 lbs of progress in two and a half weeks. next stop is two plates in three workouts (week and a half from now) and after that it's on to big boy weights!
once I hit two plates on the DL I think I'm going to start seriously working on my squat. Beef up the rehab stuff I'm doing, but also start making some serious progression on it, and feeling out what my body can handle as far as movement patterns. Hopefully get Front Squats back into serious rotation with some actual weight by the end of september, and after that I can think about back squats! Whoooo!

So I have a few questions. I'm trying to lose belly fat so I can get a nice 6 pack going by October and I need to lose about 15 pounds and right now I'm hovering at 16% body fat (Damn stubborn layer of fat seems like it won't fuck off). It's been good so far because I started working out again in mid June and I've lost about 15-16 pounds since then and some % of body fat. Right now my diet is semi paleo + intermittent fasting (Lots of meat, sometimes sweet potatos/rice/bread/pasta-- usually on workout days). I lift only twice a week now because I've started to box again (Just once or twice a week). At this rate I'm losing maybe 0.5lb-1lb per week which seems to be a healthy rate but I'm really paranoid about losing weight without the mm on my fat calipers going down. Readings are inconsistent at times and I don't look any leaner in the mirror. Does any one have any advice in regards to that?
On non workout days I usually have some meat (Say a few sausages, eggs, onions) a protein shake (with about 75g of protein in it), MCT oil (250 calories worth) and maybe a banana with some peanut butter on it or some sweet potato french fries. I want to make sure I'm not undereating especially when it comes to the starchy stuff. The weird thing is I'vd developed some sensitivity to it because when I end up eating a lot of starchy foods my mind tends to become fuzzier.
Also on a related note, does anybody know which exercises best transfer to boxing? If I had to guess it'd be the powerclean but I could be wrong. I think after I lose the 15lb I should pack on some more muscle by either upping my lifts (They really suck) or trying out olympic lifting.
ETA: I just read this article, what do you guys think? http://www.expertboxing.com/boxing-training/boxing-workouts/why-lifting-weights-wont-increase-punching-power
