It's crazy how tight your muscles get and you don't realize.I like the foam rolling examples given here http://www.endurancewod.com/_library/MobilityWOD - PSE Chapter.pdf. Myofascial release is kinda hard to screw up. If you've found a spot that hurts you're at the right place and just keep working it. There is some optimization which is why I think Kelly has you start from the outside of the leg in but you can do no wrong as far as I know.

I've got a friend who squats with his feet pretty wide apart, not as wide as a sumo stance but maybe as much as a foot wider than shoulder width apart. He says that he doesn't have the flexibility to go parallel if his feet are shoulder width apart so I told him he should just spend some time every day stretching but is there anything inherently bad with his wide stance? My thoughts from looking it at his stance are that his feet are too wide apart for his knees to go over them, so they're pointing inwards of his feet, which I guess might be bad for his knees in the long run. And I think he'd be able to generate a lot more power out of the hole with a narrow stance since he'd be getting a better stretch on his muscles, which should lead to a stronger contraction.

What is an issue is the knees caving in as this is just generally not good on joint health apart from losing a fuckload of strength from it not being able to use all of the muscles. Probably though he lacks mobility and is that something everyone should work on.

As for me, before summer I reached the goals that I set for myself initially and felt a bit burned out. (2x BW DL and 1.5 x BW squat) I knew I wouldn't stop going to the gym forever or anything, but I wasn't sure what I wanted from it anymore and what my goals were. I also wanted to focus more on team oriented sports for the summer. Well, summer is over soon, and I have begun weightlifting again! I realize now that no team sport has given me the same amount of satisfaction and self accomplishment that weightlifting has. Nowhere else have I gotten a similar awesome feeling each time I hit the gym. Nothing else has given me as big of a reason to really focus on what I eat, how I sleep and how I live. Guys, live strong! I'll be joining you again.

I've been squatting for two years now and I'm still struggling with feet placement. I like a narrow stance because I feel it's easier to push up from the bottom and prevent knee caving, but supposedly this causes most of the strain to fall on the quads, meaning less weight total and less well-rounded legstrength. Wide stance however is wobbly and causes knee cave and groin pain frequently. Wish I could a) afford a personal trainer and b) hire a personal trainer who knows beyond a doubt wtf they are doing
