Hey guys,
It's November so we all know what's going down. I figured I'd make the thread again. If you can, try to post a previous pic with an update pic. Furthermore, post whether it's flexed/unflexed or pumped/unpumped.
I'll start, here's the album: http://imgur.com/a/S7NWn Pics are taken after my Deadlift session, but there's not that much pump. Quality is still pretty poor, but getting a camera today. I weigh about 81kg in December, 90kg~ ATM. Pics are quite flattering in December though. Gained a ton of size in my back since then.

60 views but no posts; it's ok if youy don't look your pretiest; you're not trying to get any of us in your bed anyways.
|
Unfair dude, I'm almost at the peak of my bulk and I'm fat as fuck
edit: Im lying. still have till february before I have to think about looking good again. Only mirror I have tho is small as hell and I only have a really really bad mobile camera (some part of the camera lense is broken)
|
Also, you look great dude. You definitely gained a lot of mass, especially your pecs and back look a lot fuller.
|
Wow nice pics.
I'm nowhere near that, but I'll post my pics at the end of the month .

Comitting here to post mine on mid december, I'm not gonna cut till november 24 (´powerlifting nationals)

I think I'll just repost my pics from a month back, I'm in the middle of mass bulking for winter.
|
Well I don't have any real "before pics" but I can post ones of when I was at my heaviest and then now. Although I have fallen off of my diet a bit, I still feel okay.
Pics will be taken in about 2-3 weeks, since that is when I scheduled my next weigh in
|
Height: 168cm (5'6)
March 2012: 107kg (236lbs)
November 2012: 90kg (198lbs)
I don't have any before pictures of me though... was too disgusted at myself to take one =P

Will take pics the end of November, and will post last year's pics for comparison. Haven't made much progress unfortunately, between various injuries but... No Excuses.
Still hoping to make 200 lbs by my birthday (middle of december, 22 yrs). Don't know if I can, but I'm pushing for it.
|
I don't really have any 'before' pics, but will try to find some older pictures and post a couple of recent ones. Did put on about 8 kg while getting a bit leaner in the last couple of years.
|
I'll try to get one when I get access to a camera Don't have before pics, but I will have a pic of what I look like when I'm 10kg heavier than a few months prior, having been super skinny and tall before.
|
Well I don't have anything from before my cut, but I was around 85ish kg and like 25%+ bf. I dropped down to about 69kg and started eating carbs again, which got me back to around to 73ish kg.
This is how I looked at 69kg while flexed.
|
been to the gym 80 times this year very little progress.
squat ive dropped to reps at 60kg as i still cant do it safely. dont care about raising it because i know how fast itll go back up.
bench it looks like im coming up to 80kg for the 3rd (?) time in the year, taking at least a month to get back there each time (dont train for 3-4 weeks = lose 4-5 weeks progress np).
last ohp were like 10 sets at 40-45kg. i was up to 3x5 50kg not long ago but now working back up again..
pclean - finally figured it out, just got to do it and itll go up.
dead - done 4 sets at 100-105kg so its not bad but hasnt gone up much in the ...year. grip has improved but that would be from the last few weeks when i have been bothering to do some chinups/pulldowns/grip work.
chinups - around 2
ALL IN ALL i have been to the gym 80 times this year (or a few more) and have had very little progress overall. but the future is still looking brighter than ever.
im hoping by my next pic my forearms (or even wrists!?) will look very different
spreadsheet (not filled in the last X weeks since i cant be fucked anymore, at least until im back over 80 bench)

Fun facts about the 2008 picture: This was shot during the WCG finals in Cologne in 2008 (by lil'susie^^). I registered my TL account a couple of days afterwards. During the event I talked to Ret and Zatic a little bit, but when I said I wasn't on TL, they kind of lost interest, so go figure (I wonder if Zatic remembers that, we talked when some austrian terran beat Nony in a pretty huge upset during the group stages). I also remember Mondragon looking at me several times with what I would call pretty undisguised disgust. Oh yeah, and the 3 months leading up to the WCG were without a doubt the worst time of my life, I wonder how I even gathered the strength to show up there.

Here's some of mines. The first pictures are from 2010 but in September of last year, I was probably a bit thinner than even that. To give you guys an idea, I could Deadlift 455lbs at that time. I really exploded while training in my parents garage. Went from 455lbs to 515lbs deadlift in 3 months with nothing but a Barbell and an adjustable Dumbbell I made. Still, it's funny that my bodyweight is 178-180 on all of these pictures.

A shitload of standing ab crunches, weighted leg raise, weighted or BW dragon flags, standing ab wheel. At the westside barbell they mention 400 reps of abs per week, with sets of 3-5 reps, up to 25-35 reps.

Still only 150lb. Fucking Crohn's. But then, when I started working out and doing TKD, I was closer to 140lb, and completely sedentary. That was early this year.
Plus of course, there's the tournament sparring win, as a green belt, in a division for all men's non-black belts.
So, overall, solid progress, just not much in weight.

Are you still able to DL? I had 3 consecutive tibial tuberosity injuries which kept me from squatting or doing olympic lifts, but I could still dl and do all upper body stuff with no aggravation.

I'm 90% sure deadlift was the actual exercise that caused the injury I need to rehab my hamstrings then I should be able to ease back into it I hope. It didn't feel too bad a month ago and I got back squat and deadlift up to 265/255 and it came back bad.

Did body fat testing in one of my labs yesterday - Calipers, Bioelectrical impedence (not one of the crappy handheld ones, a laboratory-quality one) and BodPod (which is a fancy machine that measures air displacement)
came in a 12.6%bf on the 3-site and 7-site caliper measurement. 11.8% on the BIA, and 12.0% on the bodpod. I suppose that means I'm around 12%, but I really thought I was closer to 15. I'll take pictures later today or tomorrow and put them up, since it's the end of november.

Dat Beard.
Took pics earlier, left my camera at a buddies house. Will upload them... whenever I get it back.
Weighed in today at the gym too. 189 lbs, fasted but fully hydrated. This time last year I was just under 180, roughly the same level of lean-ness, but I was using creatine so I had some more water on me. I'd guess I've added 13-14 pounds, almost entirely muscle, despite my continued injuries and constant complaining about inability to gain weight.
Still 30 lbs to go in the next half a year. Fortunately I seem to have everything working in the right direction right now, so...

so I guess I'm around 15-20% BF? I don't even know how much body fat I have....hahaha

Looks like you made good progress, well done, looking good. Are you still cutting? Because if your goal is to look your best for summer, I would personally advise you to eat at a small surplus for a couple of months, before you cut down just before summer. Though you do look like you've been doing some lifting, you don't have a lot of muscle mass yet. If you cut all the way up to summer, I fear you might look skinny, instead of ripped. If you lean bulk you can expect to add pretty much pure muscle, considering newbie gains. And you should still be able to achieve lean status in summer.
Hope this advice isn't unwanted, and maybe not everyone agrees, just my two cents.

Definitely isn't unwanted advice.. Thanks I was thinking the same thing. I think that I am going to continue to cut until January.. and then start the bulk. Should I shoot for the end of March to begin my cut again? Leaves about 2 months for each.

Yeah, I would reevaluate in march, depends on how lean you are then if you bulk another month or not, but 2 months is about right. Even if you decide to lean bulk right now, i think you probably will end up looking leaner in march than you do now, due to the extra muscle mass, especially if you keep the surplus small (200-300 cals). Good luck man.

Dem arms ... seriously wtf haha so good.
What is your program? I have definitely gained a lot of muscle but my arms are still tiny.
|
|
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Concerning my arms, I hardly train them directly at all. My triceps is just generally big, it was the first 'visible' muscle when I was still fat. And until yesterday I wasn't aware that my biceps looked like this. Though I have to say that I did 20 minutes of robe skipping beforehand, and for some reason that gives me a good pump, haha.
Anyway, for my arms I am doing basically: + Show Spoiler +Dips (close to failure) & Weighted Dips (3setsx5) Overhead Press (rep range 1-5, and very rarely a set of 10-12) Push Press (triples or fives) Chins (close to failure) & Weighted Chins (rep range 1-5) Pull Ups (close to failure) & Weighted Pull Ups (rep range 1-3) Ocasionally Biceps Curls and Cable Triceps Extensions, but that's like 1-2 times a month
That's basically it. Really no focus on hypertrophy or much direct work at all. And, for what it is worth, I barely missed a workout during the last 1 3/4 years. Consistency is everything I feel. Though since I gain fat so easily, it is only fair that I gain muscle easily as well. Next year I hopefully have pictures where I got rid of the excess skin on my stomach (though I did a pretty good job hiding it in those pictures).
|
Thats pretty amazing, Malinor, holy Shit.
I've lost 30lbs in the past 4 months (230 to 200, witch another 30 as my goal), but damn, you're blowing everyone out of the water here. Very inspiring.

@Malinor, goddamn. I continue to be amazed no matter how many times I see those images. I'm more impressed by the forarms than by the biceps/triceps, but that might just be because my forarms don't seem to respond to ANYTHING that I do in the gym. They get a better workout stacking and splitting wood at home than they do lifting weights =(
Are you getting skin removal surgery? If not, how do you plan to get rid of the extra?
@uhh negative, I'm not sure if it's the pose, the abs, the paleness or the vascularity but your second pic really reminds me of Martin Berkhan (the leangains dude). That's a good thing.

Malinor looks like a marvel villain now with all that skin hanging out. Kickass reduction tho, gratz.
|
Yes, I plan to have surgery for that, but it won't be soon. I think mid 2013 is realistic. Of course you will get updated pics then.
And yeah, I am actually quite surprised by forarms (and biceps) too. Honestly, before those pictures I never realized how those looked. The way I trained it makes a lot of sense though. I trained Chin-Ups (assisted/ band assisted/negatives, jumping, just hanging on the bar) for so long and at ridiculous high weights. And since I can do them they still have been my number one priority. So basically what chance did my body have besides adapting to the massive stress on those arms.
I am quite sure that grip strength is not gonna be a problem tuntil I hit like 250kg deadlifts or so.

More fat. More squats and deadlifts. You still have a LOT of weight to out on if you want to fill out your body frame. I'm only 3cm taller and over 30kg heavier lol. You could definitely use at least 15-20kg

yeah actually i would be right now in a bulking phase(fall-spring) but my gf said she likes 6 packs more so i went for this programm with : eat alot caloriern carbon hydrates at training day and normal at non training days, next year fall im gonna start to bulk again and eat like a madman
i just started to do that diet(like 1 week ago) (beginn to read at "the solution") "http://www.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.team-andro.com%2Fwie-man-opimal-muskeln-aufbaut-und-fett-verliert.html"
its in german and i google translated it in english for you
mayb it will work for me for this year and summer until my next bulking phase in fall
but well i agree, i need to deathlift and squat higher, i only deathlift 90 kg and its super hard for me cauz i loose the grip and its very hard to hold it

Post more in the progress/lifting threads if you need help! And she won't be mad when all you muscles grow exponentially and you're way stronger even if you put on a bit of fat.

She'll like whatever you like - confidence is WAY more sexy than any single body type or muscle group. If you want to stay skinny like that, it's up to you, not her.
But this forum is a little bit skewed towards the whole "fuck yeah big squats" school of thought.

^squats for the fucking win
there are no 'small' asians, only asians who don't squat

Back contrast, from probably 16 months ago.

some seriously amazing progress from ppl here but Malinor is the bomb. Dat muscle mass. Once reduction surgery is done you will be one of the guys at the gym that people admire from afar and wish they will one day look like (and think man he probably had it easy, good genetics etc). Little do they know you probably came from a dark dark place and you got where you are with hardcore determination and strength of will.

hehe yeah been quite busy still training but I cant seem to make much progress anymore :/ my diet has gone pretty bad (way too much carbs and not enough protein) so thats probably the reason.
gonna start fresh in the new year and be more disciplined with my diet!
merry christmas everyone and stay strong you ballers!

You considering going on the sauce and competing in non-natural bbing? Sorry, super late response, but no, I'm definitely staying natural for life. Absolutely nothing against those that decide to use, just a personal decision on my part. I'm still super small (still barely under 160lbs on my reverse; working my way up slowly) so naturally I still have pretty much a lifetime of work ahead of me. Probably my favorite bodybuilder role model is Brian Whitacre (one in the middle):
In this picture he is standing next to guys that weigh a lot more than him and he still looks like he fits in. He competes around 165 and it gives me hope for us smaller framed guys that we too can achieve some awesome things. Keep training hard, everyone!

Yeah it does, but it gets harder the older you get (and within this realm, 29 is a lot worse than i.e. 22) and it is also a question of how much weigh you lose. Obviously I will have professional consult beforehand, but there is just too much skin at some places that I don't believe it can straighten itself out without help. If you 'only' lose 20kg, things are different.

Not much to look at but here goes. That's about a year ago, I've always been very skinny my whole life, always very weak, never had much of an apatite.
this is about a week ago. + Show Spoiler +
I'm trying to gain size since I've always been small weak and pathetic, will take more pictures in about 6 months, any comments and critiques are very welcome.

very nice hunts you dont wanna focus too much on gaining weight (you look good). just eat enough to recover. otherwise you end up like me, overweight in the longterm and learning that you should haven't gone so downright crazy about it, just eat for recovery and not to put on weight

a moderate surplus in the long term will lead to mostly muscular weight gain and insignificant bodyfat gain.
on the other hand, drinking 4 liters of whole milk a day on top of other foods is a sure fire way to make yourself fat, quickly. Especially if you aren't working out correctly

Thanks, but just by eating enough to recover you won't be gaining weight, at least not at a very good pace. Obviously clean bulk is much better than a dirty bulk, but if you just eat to maintain or to recover you won't really grow. I've always been really small, always had a hard time making myself eat, so i've been just trying to kinda stuff myself, feels like I'm still really small though :/
Sorry, not trying to come off as a dick by disagreeing. It seems really hard to find that point in caloric intake where you can continue to grow but not put on too mcuh fat. Though from what I know its impossible to grow without putting on SOME fat.

Since it's not november anyway, probably better to just make a "progress pics" thread, or use the success stories sticky instead of necro'ing this ancient thing....
