Sadly verry few people watch Ligue1.
Ligue 1 is just not that fun to watch for me. Granted I only watched about a dozen matches last season, but the quality of football is at times lower than the dutch National league but without the familiarity I have with the clubs. Something which shocked me for instance was that the former champions would choose to kick the ball out straight after kick-off instead of keeping the ball in the squad. It's something I've only ever seen in Amateur leagues and only when the opposing team was down a man or two. It's not even an understatement that to say it goes against everything I've learned from my former couches.

Right then I'm going to make a 4 min video of Joe Allen doing the same things you posted and call him a legend in the making. The way people hype shit these days.. facepalm.
maybe the fact that everyone in Italia call him the next Pirlo, that Prandelli said he was going to be the main playmaker for the Nazionale and that he's now working /w one of the best coaches in the world gives him way more wieghy than a random schmoe.
Still a friendly but really a good match from Verratti, he might become a starter if he continues to do that.
Joe Allen is no random shmoe. Hes very very good and his ball keeping skills and passing are tried and tested. Im not saying that kid isnt going to be a good player. But all this top 5 midfielder in the making or whatever is a bit premature.
Seriously how can you care so much about how someone performs in a preseason fitness-based friendly?? Comparing him to Pirlo who has proven himself on the high stages of international competition. Not to mention the fact that people's development can always be stalled a la Wilshere.

I have to say PSG produced some great football.
Yeah your comment really shows you don't watch Ligue1, comparing Montpellier to an amateur club seriously... because one kick you saw...
They got great players Bedimo, Belhanda, Utaka, Cabella, Hilton, Estrada who are technical AND strong. The way they play together, they defend together, this is rare when you see a team with such a team-play. For me you can compare ther play to Dortmund: great talents, technical players but most of all: team play, good defense and athletic domination.
Ligue1 is surely one of the less technical "big" league but the tactical and physical aspect is top class. Tacticaly the teams are verry strong. Put the real and the Barca in league one, they'd never score as many goals. They'd meet some chelseas every week end. When sometimes i see Liga team plys Real with such a huge gap behind there defensive line i think there coachs are crazy. In france you never see that, this is ugly but smarter.

Ligue 1 is actually really exciting! I started following it two years ago and I love it. Great pace and tons of upcoming talent. PSG are my favorites to watch, Menez and Nene = <3

I only watched about a dozen matches, like I said, most of them were pretty poor. Nothing truly excelled in the footballing department. Furthermore I was comparing Montpellier's action to that of an amateur club, because that's what it was. Amateur. Something that simply doesn't belong on a professional pitch and yet they were perfectly comfortable in doing it against Marseille. Anyway I hope you're right and I'm wrong as I'll try to watch a couple more games.
