A guy near by, Fred Lowe, former Olympian, still comes to local meets and puts up around 80/100 at 62 bodyweight and age 63-64. Guy at my gym around 60 who trains fairly casually still does 65/85 (higher bw obv). My coach still front squats 160 (10 reps in 10 minutes) every day and is probably in his 50s. Barring serious injury, there's not much reason to ever stop lifting.

Of course today I snatched up to 125 no misses lol. Brought my feet together before my jerk and it feels really good.
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Consider me inspired, I watched all the events you guys did this weekend and have become totally fascinated by Oly lifting. Took some time today to start learning Snatch and the Clean. Using Glenn Pendlay's videos, did the first portion of each of them, just empty bar hang snatches/hang cleans.

So... I'm almost done with this whole fat-loss thang...

Started (March 2012): 107kg
Now (December 2012): 87.5kg
Height: 168cm (for reference)

Once I get to 85kg I will start eating at maintenance levels and focus on improving my strength.

Lifts:
Snatch: 92.5kg
Clean and Jerk: 110kg
Front Squat: 140kg

Anyone up for a race to 100kg snatch? Then 125kg Clean and Jerk?

God I want some bumpers discs so I can miss lifts without killing anyone

I'll keep clean and jerking on thursdays though, hopefully I can add 5kg a week (from 70 lol) without killing anyone

Be sure to check out people faces when you start jerking 80-90kg, and you're so tiny (well it happens with me, I'm like 1,70m) lol their stare in awe like "why is he.."

How are you not snatching like 100 yet lol. You smoke 85 at the open and you looked like you were on your deathbed pretty much all strength and technique, with your normal speed I feel like more weight should come easy

My pull off the floor is pretty terrible. I have missed 100 behind multiple times off blocks and doubled 95 a couple times lol

Oooh it's on like Donkey Kong now son.

Although I've never trained off blocks, my first pull is also not very good. My back gets tired much much quicker than my legs do. Hence, I'm starting to snatch and clean pull once a week each (in addition to the full lifts).

Also, my next semester is light and I start to get to eat more. 100kg Snatch by end of Janruary, book it.

In the proleague streamchat people are talking about Artosis starting oly lifting... I really hope this is true.


What do you guys think? Does He Even Lift?


I hurt my knee on my back foot, hyperextended it when split jerking a warmup. Hasn't been right for a month now. Had my last squat workout more than 10 days ago and even though I've continued going to the gym and doing deadlifts/bench/hypertrophy work if feels like I don't even really lift because I don't snatch or cj.

There is no reason to even be alive if you don't squat at least twice a week imo.

I got a part time job and my courseload is far lighter than last semester, this might be the time I finally make the transition to 105kg class once I actually start training again on Monday.

Artosis mentioned months ago that Khaldor was "training him" at the gym - I would guess that most people mistake squat/bench/dead for "olympic lifting," and that's what they're talking about.

Either way, someone needs to get him to post here.
