Power's from the body not the arm. I'd not get a crappy low end racket since you want to be sure all the mistakes are yours, and I'd not get one of the stinking huge head rackets where you just have to stick out your arm and it blasts it. The latter are much too forgiving and while you'll probably see improvements faster it may not mean proper technique. As long as you have proper technique then it doesn't matter what racket you use but it's getting the technique that's the problem~ I use a $180 racket but it's like 6 years old, one before was $70 and it did just as good a job as this one ^_^ Edit: I love tennis like no other!

I play Friday night competitions and I also get coaching on Monday. I used to play a lot more, but now It's more relaxed owing to the fact I'm in my final year of school. This morning I played against 12, 11 and 10 year olds, the kind that will be Professionals one day. Man they are so good....:O

this is a bit embarassing but when i was 12 i entered this 14-16 tourney (non usta), my coach recommended me and some other people who normally wouldnt be in it because we were good enough, including a girl named crystal. The matches were 7 game prosets, so im facing crystal first and im thinking hah, i might do pretty well here, i even get to play a girl. this was no ordinary girl, she was fucking SICK. she made me work for that 3-4 loss. Afterwards i found out she was from australia and her father was a former top 20 player in the world. About 2 years later when i was a freshman in high school, i decided to check the tennis stuff out in the paper, see if any of the people i had been playing earlier were doing well. Sure enough, there was crystal, first state singles champion of new jersey, rofl. that loss to her was one of the contributing factors of me choosing baseball over tennis..

I can give a beginner my Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 sq.in and he would only hit well one ball out of 10 with forehand.... 0 out of 10 with backhand... and I can put money on the table for this.

Tennis is very very very competitive and if you don't do good you'll get stuck forever. Today I'm graduated and play tennis in clubs for fun. I don't regret my choice. You made the semis of the orange bowl?!? Thats sick... good chance u coulda gone pro... you musta been a 5.5 or 6.. some kid that lives near me just lost in the orange bowl finals at age 16.. I'm about a 4.0.. still using a Ti S5 though.
