I was pretty good, played in a bunch of USTA events and other random tournaments. I was always a prince guy with my racket, started out with it and was too stubborn to change

It's a great sport anyway, fun and (very) technical. On the other hand, it's the kind of sport where you tend to often get little (and sometimes bigger) injuries to your arms, or even your hands.

I attribute a lot of my success in baseball to tennis. I had extremely strong and quick wrists. Back in high school I was pretty wiry but I hit the shit out of the ball. It also is very physically trying, i love the constant action. I would love to start playing again, havent played competitively in 8 years or so. I think i'll take it up this spring again

. I play tennis for the school team and its pretty fun to hit balls around for a class period. I suggest you get a recreational racket from prince, they make some good ones like ThunderCloud. Buying a really good racket right now would be a waste of money and most likely you wont be able to use it to the full potential.

Edit: Nvm... serves... actually tennis is more like 1 - head 2 - legs .... .... .... 3 - back 4 - shoulders 5 - wrists .... .... .... ... ... 6 arms otherwise I wouldn't be able to hit 100 mph serves (my arms are very thin). Legs and position of the legs represent more than 50% of your tennis. Agassi's old Head TI Radical is a good racket to get started I strongly recommend it to you, because it's very friendly when hitting from the baseline and with an appropiate string tension say 60-62 pounds, you'll gain fast control of your strokes. If you buy a shitty racket you'll have plenty of problems controlling the ball thus will get frustrated and maybe abandon the sport.

i tried playing last year, i had some trouble hitting forehands (which is kinda weird), for some reason it felt a little unnatural after 6 years of not playing and only playing baseball. the backhand was fine and so was the serve, so i just kinda served and volleyed my way through a few games

Power's from the body not the arm. I'd not get a crappy low end racket since you want to be sure all the mistakes are yours, and I'd not get one of the stinking huge head rackets where you just have to stick out your arm and it blasts it. The latter are much too forgiving and while you'll probably see improvements faster it may not mean proper technique. As long as you have proper technique then it doesn't matter what racket you use but it's getting the technique that's the problem~ I use a $180 racket but it's like 6 years old, one before was $70 and it did just as good a job as this one ^_^ Edit: I love tennis like no other!

I play Friday night competitions and I also get coaching on Monday. I used to play a lot more, but now It's more relaxed owing to the fact I'm in my final year of school. This morning I played against 12, 11 and 10 year olds, the kind that will be Professionals one day. Man they are so good....:O

this is a bit embarassing but when i was 12 i entered this 14-16 tourney (non usta), my coach recommended me and some other people who normally wouldnt be in it because we were good enough, including a girl named crystal. The matches were 7 game prosets, so im facing crystal first and im thinking hah, i might do pretty well here, i even get to play a girl. this was no ordinary girl, she was fucking SICK. she made me work for that 3-4 loss. Afterwards i found out she was from australia and her father was a former top 20 player in the world. About 2 years later when i was a freshman in high school, i decided to check the tennis stuff out in the paper, see if any of the people i had been playing earlier were doing well. Sure enough, there was crystal, first state singles champion of new jersey, rofl. that loss to her was one of the contributing factors of me choosing baseball over tennis..

Depends on how you hit the ball, rackets are relative (when you are a beginer).

I can give a beginner my Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 sq.in and he would only hit well one ball out of 10 with forehand.... 0 out of 10 with backhand... and I can put money on the table for this.

A wildcard through to the Wimbledon semi finals for the first time since 2001. That was when Ivanisovic won the whole tournament. Is this the year for British sports?
