The song is about the girls asking a guy for his number for a date. It's all very cute and sexy with the trench coat and private investigator theme, until they smack us with this lyrics: I'm young and if you don't even have my kind of courage How dare you look at me. This lyric reveals their true feelings. The song, the outfits, and theme are all mocking the idea of women asking for a man's number. Who finds women cosplaying Sherlock Holmes sexy? It's a self aware joke. It's an absolutely brilliantly well executed concept.

The girls are watching first covertly. Gaining information, no one sees no one gives a damn about but it's not enough. They crave more, they need stronger interaction. They start with a dipping a toe. It's pleasant but it becomes a gateway, an addiction, they want more; they need more. It goes from being hidden to observing in plain sight. Their greed knows no limits it's insatiable thirst for the man in the red suit, risks are thrown to the wind and being clever isn't enough anymore. First contact, it's just a nudge but the dominoes start falling. Falling in love is a metaphorical for jumping on the same ship, the girls are still safe but the man in red no longer is. They start messing with him, it's seems rude and inconsiderate, but he enjoys it even if the organization he represents doesn't but it doesn't matter he got what he wanted, did the girls get what they wanted? partial yes but not quite at the level they want, not yet at least... The girls are Russia, the man in red is Trump and the things they mess with is the US election

When it's my turn I say "I have a friend who is a Starcraft grandmaster." Most of the students hold up False cards. Then one student in the back asks me "Do you have any Korean friends?" I say yes. Every single one of my Korean students immediately changes their guess to True.

Very smart post. The way that line comes together is sooo well done. They have Seolhyun standing there looking perfectly symmetrical. Then the beat drops and she pauses between each line: You are so handsome... ...I am beautiful... ...We don’t have to look to know that we must be a match made in heaven. The phonetic structure of the line in Korean and the way she sings it is a really powerful moment. You see, boybands/girlgroups sell the fantasy of the members being in a romantic relationship with the listener. While also selling the fantasy of -being- the person that is so hot and sought after. It's the same thing Frank Sinatra and the Beatles did. So the premise of the song as a representation of the fantasy "A hot girl might ask me out" "Maybe I can ask out that hot guy" hit home for both sexes very powerfully in that line. What I find interesting is that the lyric I quoted in the OP isn't found in the youtube closed captioning. I think it was intentionally left out. I think the song is marketed towards a more western audience and wanted to appeal to the myth of women asking men out being acceptable and desirable. User was banned for this post.
