If you want to accelerate the process of connecting or increase your chances of doing so, you need to put in effort. You can't just lazily sit back and be like "yeah, cool, whatever" and let the conversation kind of wander around-- it might be okay, but its just small talk and at some point its likely you'll hit a dead end or an awkward silence. You have to be enthusiastic and funny, try to push the conversation. Ask how they got into the music, talk about that a bit-- hook onto something and take the opportunity to start questions about themselves. It's like squeezing a tube of toothpaste-- you can kind of half ass it and you'll get toothpaste, but if you give it a proper squeeze from the bottom, you'll get more. If you see yourself getting close to a dead end, excuse yourself before you leave a weird final impression. Talk to them about the music and stuff, learn a little about them and just be yourself. Mention that you're interested in whatever and that you might go to other performances/ events and that it was nice meeting them. Ask them for a phone number or business card so you can hang out at another one of those things, maybe meet for dinner or something before and drinks afterwards. | ||

I feel like it's not going to be that epic. A few things happened all at once: Wasabi got bored of playing on his main after getting a winstreak to take him close to promos for Diamond so he asked me to play. Normally we had been duoing on a smurf of his but he doesn't have any champs so he's been playing Garen whose carry potential has been OKAY, but not amazing. I have been forced to support every game. After losing a whole bunch yesterday and him no longer having fun being forced to play Garen we figured we'd be done with carrying me. This game we played for fun---essentially he said he'd practice support so I wouldn't have to so I played Skarner jungle. We had fun, we made plays and we won. I also mysteriously got unclamped so I was getting 22pts/win. This took me back to 68 points so I could actually see promos in reach once again. Then Wasabi said he was just gonna buy Riven 'cause he misses playing her. Not only did he crush his shit the next two games, but we kept getting matched with other plat smurfs on silver/gold characters, AND I didn't have to support so 3-0 Skarner games. Essentially if we keep this up we may just blast through the promos tomorrow. | ||

Wanna check out this one place this weekend?" and such. I'd say the strangest meeting I've had was when someone found my blog about a Japanese idol group. It turned out that we live in the same city (surprising, given that the Japanese idol group I write about has a tiny foreign fanbase) and have other similar interests(martial arts, eating), and he invited me to go eat. Now we're pretty good friends. It's really all about offering that first invite and trying to build something from there. | ||
