Ahhh that's terrible. I received similar news once after coming back from the bars. I was fortunate enough to be with a beautiful woman and good friend. The next day was actually one of my fondest memories and best days of my life. It was odd being one of the saddest I have ever been, but having the most wonderful day in the best company to reflect on it.
ps A world with no death would suck in my opinion. I am actually very excited for death. I don't want to die now, but I certainly have no qualms with dying.

I sometimes visualize LLOTGD as a large room with people coming in and out and this comment would have been super inappropriate given the above post had we been in a more traditional setting. Maybe not super inappropriate, but it certainly would not have juxtaposed very well.

About death, I don't want to die now, I don't want to die tomorrow, and that continues on ad infinitum. I know it's inevitable but I'll certainly keep fighting till the end, especially with the shit that has surrounded me so far. If we'd be able to live as long as we wanted, we could read everything we wanted to, meet everyone we wanted to, reach the stars, watch our old Earth wink out of existence with a party of people born on Earth, and eventually say our goodbyes when heat death reaches the limit.
If it's possible in any way I'll give death the middle finger and keep on living.
*disclaimer*: these thoughts are flowing after about 3 scotch and 5 beers.

I have a habit of accidentally saying horribly inappropriate things at inopportune times.

Not to sound cliched or disrespectful (I'm sorry about your friend Doctorbeat, I truly am,) but I think that death is just a part of life.
I think because that death exists, life is just that much more valuable. We don't know what we have until we've lost it. So we treasure being alive because we know the alternative is to not have life at all.
That being said, no one has ever died and come back to life. I don't mean this as a joke, but rather we don't know what comes after death. Who knows? There might be nothing after death or there could be something.
Again, my condolences for your friend Doctorbeat.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
ps I would like to add that I think as soon as moving around becomes difficult (or my mind starts to go), pull the plug. I'm outta here when I'm immobile for a majority of the day not by choice, but because I am physically unable to move. If that happens when I am 65 or 95, I don't care. But I ain't gonna stick around vegetablizing. I'd rather shitpost in the afterlife.

True, but even if there's something after death, does it matter when the people who are alive and dead can't communicate?
I do treasure life above all, that's why my primary prerogative is not to die.
@JonGalt: Yeah I do agree with that. But at my uni there's quite a lot of research going on atm for both regenerative engineering, medical imaging and neuroengineering. Quite a lot of progress has already been made with Alzheimer's in vitro. So being a vegetable could be one of those things we look back at as barbaric and outdated, just as having the plague.

Hope your friend recovers Doctorbeat. Death can be tough to deal with. My grandfather passed away two months ago and I'm still coping with it.

Yeah, it's just the first time for him losing someone special... So it packs some extra punch. I've dealt with it before in my own way.
And no problem mate, everyone's free to speak their mind, and sharing thoughts usually helps. This night we mostly spent recalling nice memories the guy had with his granddad. His granddad visiting his sports games and being super proud of him going to uni and stuff.

To abruptly change the subject, I finished Code Geass. It definitely grew on me throughout the two seasons, but I honestly felt like the first season was kind of pointless. I have been struggling to figure out how to describe it. I kept watching it but while I was watching it I was kind of grumbling and mumbling about it. Ionno. I never really felt or pulled for any characters either. But I still liked it I guess? It certainly not in my top animes though that's for sure. But I am glad I watched it.
And I know Ketara gonna be pissed, but I started Fate Zero which so far has been enjoyable.

Galt finishes Code Geass the same time he decides to "begin the growing up process".
Coincidence? I think not!
But I understand that Code Geass isn't for everyone. Happy that you actually watched it though.

Code Geass was okay I thought the ending was kinda dumb though but I hate those type of endings in general.

The ending was actually one of the parts I liked most about the show. I guess I just expected it to get better and better and it sort of was good from the start and stagnated.

The ending of Code Geass was certainly controversial for sure. It didn't bother me, but I really can understand how it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
I think Cowboy Bebop had one of the best anime endings that I've ever seen. Well maybe not one of the best, but I really enjoyed it.
Disclaimer: I haven't watched a lot of anime.

Cowboy Bebop was okay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the show personally but the ending was done well (although I don't remember it much)
I generally don't like anime endings that much, the only one I can think that I really liked was WHR.

Actually I don't remember if you liked the ending or not. I recall you being confused.
