Put it on UPS but it doesn't matter as it goes through phone line it seems. I lost a computer charger in Lesotho this way. First time I charge my computer in like 2 weeks and thunderstorm takes the charger RIP computer time for a month. I think there's quite a bit of Philosophy in the film in the film that isn't obvious at first. Of course that being said, I haven't watched any (actual) serious crime dramas so I probably labelled it incorrectly. I am also willing to admit that I'm INCREDIBLY biased on my views of the Dark Knight, so I am oversellilng it for sure. I still stand by my "thought provoking" statement though. Maybe not for anyone else (I really can't speak for anyone else), but watching that movie makes me think about things quite a bit. Maybe I'm thinking hard about essentially nothing, or maybe I'm just easily amused. I actually agree with you Frudgey. Maybe not as thought provoking as you, but there were a lot of cool elements I thought that made you think, shit what would I do in that situation? How would my friends? My family? Provoked thought for me at least, but maybe you and I are just simple minded folk unlike the wisdom filled individuals blessing us with their knowledge. On April 18 2015 04:11 wei2coolman wrote: No, I'm implying either frudgey used the wrong words to describe the movie, or just has bad opinions on the film, or is a pleb. Toxic hyperbole is a lot less work than spewing pseudointellectual bullshit. It's also a lot less work than actually putting work in to your posts! I put movies that when I was done watching them made me think about what I had seen. not necessarily movies with high concepts or deep ideas.

Hence my listings. yeah kinda same here mostly (although I try to make it specifically thinking about the meaning of the movie and stuff). personally I didn't find forbidden planet to fit that even though I thought it was a really good movie.

Cheep, go ahead and give me a 0/10. I'll take it like a man. I'm sure I could think of more if I really thought about it, but I think the more you decide to "think" about a film the more thought provoking it can be. Then again, I don't go out and watch a whole lot of films to begin with. I will defend you to the death my liege.

Forbidden planet is interesting and thought provoking for me because not only is it one of the first serious sci fi films but the fact is, both sides in the conflict have perfectly valid points. Commander Adams is perfectly correct that the alien knowledge shouldn't be handed out by one man and is best done by a group of people. No one man should have all that power, it corrupts and in this case it costs Morbius his life all because he thought he was in control and understood what was best. Morbius is also correct that governments and collective groups(military, political or otherwise) can be corrupt and misuse the technology for terrible purposes. While in the film his point isn't overtly validated it's not a stretch to see it as a possibility. It's one of those films I enjoy thinking about on occasion because it's quite clearly trying to point out the dangerous nature of new technology(at the time nuclear power etc). Also I guess spoilers for a movie made in 1956 so uhh yeah deal with it.

I watched it and then afterwords didn't really think about it much other then the fact that it was a good movie that was interesting.
