Your decision to repeat the same choice five times is intriguing, and speaks either to unwavering conviction or a fear of judgment, giving yourself an easy out and the ability to plead facetiousness when pressed. 6/10 for the choice alone, and I urge you to take the leap and submit other choices for review as well. Did you feel obligated to attempt a “diverse” selection to showcase your expansive horizons and worldliness? In any case, Rambo and Falling Down are actually more similar when considered from a success-of-execution perspective, whereas Cloud Atlas is the outsider due to the unfortunate inability to reach its ambitious goals. I have trouble believing this is a genuine list (since believing so would be accepting a disturbing lack of aesthetic judgment on your part), and would like to ask you to re-submit another selection for review. 3/10, with an asterisk pending another submission. Rod Steiger gave a heck of a performance, although I guess it's more emotional than thought provoking. gave and amazing performance. Z's good. not a traditional thought provoking movie but I found it did make me think. also what do you think about the discreet charm of the Bourgeoisie because I thought about putting that, although I guess that's more weird then thought provoking.

Cloud Atlas (although I wouldn't have remembered it hadn't it be mentioned), Jin-Roh, The Green Mile (for its ending rather than the plot itself), Ben X, hum... Movies like The Usual Suspects, Edward Scissorhands, The Dollars Trilogy or Pulp Fiction come to mind but they haven't provoked thought, or not as such (the depiction of suburbia in Edward got me the 2nd time I saw it, when I was older).

You've failed to read into the nuance of why I placed Rejected before Rejected, but after Rejected and Rejected, not to mention the very contentious placement of Rejected at the bottom when most would automatically place it at the top. All of that ignores the fact that three films were requested but due to the complicated nature of the matter in question I felt compelled to include five. I think you should read deeper sir.

"I did this." Also I tried super hard to think of thought provoking films and all I got was Dark Knight. Cheep, go ahead and give me a 0/10. I'll take it like a man. I'm sure I could think of more if I really thought about it, but I think the more you decide to "think" about a film the more thought provoking it can be. Then again, I don't go out and watch a whole lot of films to begin with.

I think it's simply easier, if you're paying too much attention to it, to remember a series simply because you invested more time in it and have potentially more memories, especially if you tend to remember particular parts more vividly than things whole, as a series provides (probabilities) more of these. Band of Brothers I remember, although only a few scenes and the whole not that much. But the testimonies at the start and the end of the episodes, though.
