Sucks about your car JohnGalt. At least you weren't in the car when it got smashed!

I was in that car when it became the beautiful wreck that it is now. Not a pleasant experience. I almost died!

I definitely need to clean it out, I know that for sure. Cat hair just loves accumulating in it. It's not startup stuff - I'm actually pretty good at keeping that low on my desktop. It's more just random freezing for a second, unpredictable and annoying.
I think part of the issue is that I have a 64GB SSD that is mostly full from the OS, and my 1TB HDD is almost full as well. I can definitely clean some unneeded stuff off the HDD though.

Specs are decent, but core parts are getting a bit old. I've upgraded GPU in the last couple years and recently got myself up to 16GB RAM, but the CPU is getting pretty old (i7 Sandy Bridge 3.7 GHz). I got the MOBO at the same time as CPU (old mobo wouldn't handle an i7), but I think it's still in decent shape.
This bundle looks semi decent... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2288664

As opposed to the cardboard variety, of course. Also jesus frudgey. How did that happen? Well I was on my way to EB games to pick up the latest Castlevania game. I cross the intersection and some guy ran the red light and then hit me from the driver's side of the vehicle that I was in. The force of the impact then caused my car to go into a street light, knocking it over. Street light almost crushed the vehicle (and by extension, me) as well!
You should have seen the scene of the accident though. It looked like a bomb went off because there was debris everywhere. I think I rolled like 3 crit 20's for my luck saving throws. I got out a lot luckier than I should have haha.

I mean, it would be one thing if I lived somewhere that had a lot of tournaments. The west coast has a lot of competitions going on and a big playerbase. There's actually a lot of players here in Chicagoland, but no one is organized enough to create a big league or even monthly events.
To be fair, I have more than enough fun playing at my local store with friends and working on painting at my apartment. But after Adepticon's big championship, it really got my competitive edge going and I want to do more like that.

Yea, sometimes I literally think of all the times I've almost crashed/got extremely lucky, and lose count sometimes.
Extremely fortunate that the only "bad" thing that has happened to me is stolen tires.

Tournaments for what?
If there's non-sports event I want to fly out to attend, its got to be Evo.

That one looks cleaner though, in a way. Of course being inside makes it worse. :<

Never really checked why, but when I remove stuff from the start-up list (can't remember the name I typed in the start-up menu to bring it up) it asks me to reboot. Fair enough. Then I reboot, and as soon as the computer's done loading it automatically brings up that same window, and when I close it, whether I changed stuff or not this time, it asks me to reboot again. Over and over. So I stopped trying to switch stuff that way.

Like, the number of times you have issues that fall in the category of "not trivial enough to be solved on through the service rep's checklist, but not serious enough to actually require a technician if the rep were trained better" is actually incredibly small and not worth the company's time to think about. And even if the issue falls in that category, the CUSTOMER is so unlikely to be tech-savvy enough to properly follow a proficient rep's instructions that the vast majority of the time, it's going to be easier to send a technician to go and do it for them rather than try to walk a stupid ignorant customer through steps they don't understand.
That's true.
However, problems that aren't solvable by checklist get extremely frustrating very quickly because the technicians are often undertrained. If it isn't something that can be solved by replacing the modem most of them are as useless as the checklist.
Back when I was streaming I ran into a problem with my internet. My modem would randomly reset itself, and it tended to coincide with me streaming or uploading files. It took seven visits for technicians to fix the problem.
- Technician A removed the battery from my modem.
- Technician B boosted the signal to my modem.
- Technician C replaced the modem.
- Technician D told me I needed to upgrade my internet. I told him that was bullshit but he didn't know what else to do so he just went home.
- Technician E fiddled around with all sorts of settings on the modem.
- Technician F replaced the modem, again.
- Technician E came back with the regional manager and they brought in a completely different model of modem because somebody had finally figured out the old model had problems with sustained uploads.
Diagnosing the problem wasn't necessarily easy, but the inadequacy of the training given to the technicians was pretty damn obvious. The pressure on them to keep to their schedule was also pretty evident, almost all of them jumped at simple, quick fixes before jetting out the door to their next appointment.
grrr rant rant rant rant I'm just super mad.

We have a server in our house that we occasionally hop on for a night of drunken shenanigans.
Other than that I think it's crack for 7-14 year olds.

If there's non-sports event I want to fly out to attend, its got to be Evo. It's interesting that most people mention Evo when talking about one gaming event to be at, but to me it seems like smaller events such as CEO or UFGT (technically rip but its supposed to be continued with same staff minus Keits under a different name, right?) might be better for your one fighting game event. CEO seems to be pretty equal to EVO when it comes to spectating (a bit smaller, but fucking rings and cages man), and UFGT seems to cater towards an average entrant with the panels, mystery tournament and no-bullshit attitude towards top player privilege when running pools (something that Evo reportedly has many problems with). Plus you're more likely to meet or even play against a known player, since at Evo they probably wouldn't have time for every "fan".
I should start saving for a ticket and visa to usa :/

I've recently done a fresh install of Windows (within the last ~3 months). I definitely need a better SSD, and a new CPU wouldn't hurt...
Old CPU would also contribute to the excess parts that I have that I want to eventually put into an extra server/media box. Long term plan that I have no idea how to really execute, but seems like it would be nice to have.
