This requires playing in a robust manner for your first runs, and from what I can tell Sufficiency is an optimizer. In which case Sufficiency, you should just get the Wiki so you can have all of your knowledge ahead of time so you can be efficient.
What I enjoy most out of games is getting RNG-fucked and having your run ruined, which is why I like RNG focussed strategy/tactics games (Tactics - SWOTS: The Pit; Strategy - FTL; Both - XCOM).
Not being able to deduce the state of the game isn't necessarily a design flaw for tactics, but I can see why it would be frustrating for a type of player. Maybe FE isn't for you.
Also, on some maps you can stop reinforcements from spawning at all by being really pro
I actually always play the game blind for my first playthrough. It is my personal policy. If I like the game I sometimes opt for a walkthrough/wiki aided secpnd playthrough and try to go for a "complete run".
Also RNG is not bad. I like playing civ 5 because the RNG spawning points can change how you play - sometimes it sucks, but that's how it is and you have to adapt. I don't claim to be the best civ 5 player but I do play on Deity on GnK. I can't manage some of the FE10 levels because the risk is too high and the surprises are too nasty.
