Just a ball and something to set up as a goal. Ultimate - literally all you need is a frisbee Worst fucking idea for a sport ever. That's why I prefer NCAA. They aren't as good but they try harder. Don't let fools like Harden who don't play defense trick you into thinking that 99% of NBA players aren't trying harder than every player in college, especially come playoff time. Turns out that getting position for an offensive rebound is difficult against actual competition/players your size, and almost every one of them come off of the primary rebounder being forced out of position by his help responsibility or odd/hard bounces off the rim. It's all but confirmed that 7th edition will be dropping at the end of next month. Which is kind of exciting news. I'm curious as to what the rules changes will include. There seems to be a bit of talk about Psyker powers getting their own phase, Overwatch not being as powerful (which is pretty big whether you're a fan or a hater), and possible buffs to assault in general (which is good because Assault is cool). But the real question is will we get plastic Elysian Drop Troops and Death Korp of Krieg? hahahaha no Convert or Forgeworld. There's no way GW will make models for FW's rules. Show nested quote + On April 29 2014 04:23 Requizen wrote: The rumor (keep in mind, everything is rumors right now) is that you'll need to make an Initiative test to be able to Overwatch. Which is potentially devastating, since a lot of shooting units have low Initiatives, and the units with high initiative are assault-oriented and don't particularly care about getting charged anyway. That sounds really swingy. Surely there's some nice middle ground where Assault and Shooting both work. Well honestly I think this edition could be the one to nail it (though that might be a bit optimistic) depending on how they go. Assault was really strong in 5th ed with reliable charge distances, strong alpha strike armies like Blood Angels, and little to no defense other than "Deploy really far away". In 6th, they nerfed assaults by making it so you can't assault turn 1 or when you arrive by deep strike and by having you make random charge distances. Then they buffed shooty armies by introducing Overwatch and popularizing fortifications like the Aegis Defense Line (which is basically bring your own 4+ cover and difficult terrain). Additionally, Allies were introduced, so armies that lacked assault/assault defense could ally in someone who could. They went from one extreme to the other, when really all they needed was to buff shooting armies or nerf assault, not both. If they buff up assault, it should be interesting again. Honestly, assault is good still. Close-combat based units that get into melee with shooting units will tear through their shit and laugh. It's just much, much harder to get there reliably nowadays. Either you get shot before you get there, or you get there and can't make the charge for another turn and get shot again in the meantime. The only melee units that work well are ones that are tough enough to survive the hail of fire and also mobile enough to get into range where charge is more guaranteed (~4-6 inches is the "safe zone" where it's hard to fail). Of course, as a disclaimer, this is all stuff from "competitive" players. Casual games against people who don't cheese-list don't feel this a lot, but even then you'll see shooty units win more games than not. | ||
