When I lived in India we had a Halloween party. Indians have no idea what Halloween is. My girlfriend at the time didn't understand what "costume party" meant and dressed up in like super formal dress thinking this was appropriate, she was adorable. One of the girls dressed up as Shiva. We were all drunk and not really thinking about how incredibly offensive this is. We ordered pizzas. So this Indian guy comes to the door with our pizzas, and drunk Shiva girl opens the door and tries to pay him. The look on the guys face. So priceless. Good times. | ||

Which is kind of exciting news. I'm curious as to what the rules changes will include. There seems to be a bit of talk about Psyker powers getting their own phase, Overwatch not being as powerful (which is pretty big whether you're a fan or a hater), and possible buffs to assault in general (which is good because Assault is cool). | ||

Cool, good to know, although I wasn't planning on buying any books until Ork codex comes out. What is changing about Overwatch? It seems fine to me since everything is snap shots, but my only experience playing is briefly this weekend to start to get a feel for the rules. | ||

The rumor (keep in mind, everything is rumors right now) is that you'll need to make an Initiative test to be able to Overwatch. Which is potentially devastating, since a lot of shooting units have low Initiatives, and the units with high initiative are assault-oriented and don't particularly care about getting charged anyway. As to what's bad about it, it really depends on the army. The biggest offenders of it are IG and Tau, though Necrons can be pretty bad about it. IG have just huge numbers of bodies in their squads (especially things like Platoons with Conscripts) so getting lots of 6s isn't that difficult. Necrons get a lot of shots with their decent strength, Rapid Fire weapons. Tau are the worst offenders, since not only does the squad getting charged get to Overwatch, but also nearby squads becuase of a special rule. Charge already has a random distance attached to it, and if you lose the front few models in the squad due to overwatch, suddenly that's another 2+ inches you have to roll on the charge. And if you don't make the charge, you just took those shots for free and stand there doing nothing. Against some armies, it's not a big deal. Armies with low model counts, or vehicle-heavy armies, don't put out a lot of shots. Armies that have high model counts with decent strength shots, or armies that have Twin-Linking baseline can be very annoying to charge into. | ||
