drunk people for the most part are disgusting, i'd say 90% of people who get drunk are worse to hang around with, and considering majority people are unbearable to hang with when they're sober, i don't want them drunk.

See, if you're an antisocial personality to begin with, I don't see how drinking would improve that.

Good experiences including but not limited to: End of high school: First time getting so drunk I couldn't SEE. Smashed my head on a low ceiling of my friends house, throwing up twice, probably forever traumatizing my friend's 10 year old brother who thought we were all gonna die, waking up in the morning to find my friend who was bragging about not throwing up sleeping in it. Hilarious and fun. Early uni days - one St. Patty's day we hung out in one of the pubs on campus for hours singing improvised Irish drinking song and having green beer. Still best St.Patty's day of my life. Chasing my friend down the street, preventing him from getting beaten up/arrested/peeing on a bistro, drawing penises on him with his roommate and then convincing him he asked us to do it. Post-show parties in the theater, going up to the roof to hang out, bowls of flaming sambuca, singing and hanging out with friends. Wife getting drunk in the first hour of best friend's wedding, gets bartender to help bring her like 8 martinis to the table, practically unclothing herself to everyone at our table. Other friend's Russian wedding, fresh chilled carafes of vodka brought to table every time one finished, got so drunk I couldn't even direct the taxi to my house, wife found me passed out with my pants around my ankles in the guest bed. I'm actually wracking my brains trying to think of a bad experience I had drinking but I truly can't think of one at all. This... This... and This... and that

There's nothing interesting to me about people getting stupider than they already are and then telling me it was worth getting hurt, getting sick, and ruining relationships. I don't decry it, I don't mind if people do it, I just don't see the upside other than "it's easier to have fun". Because if you're not a moron about it you don't get sick/hurt/ruin anything. Like many recreational drugs (because let's be honest, it is) it alters your perception of things and makes you feel good, so from purely a physical standpoint that's why some people do it. The 'having fun' thing is another positive. For me over the past few years I only get to drink maybe a few time a year, so I use it as a time I can let loose and relax.

Don't drink very often, but just had a "reunion party" thing with some friends from highschool last night, many drinks were mixed. Now it's starting to feel like that was a bad idea. Drinking just makes everyone more, if they're funny they become funnier, if they're annoying they become annoyinger, if they have a temper it becomes shorter. As long as everyone gets along, and know their limits, it's great fun.

Yeah I don't understand any other recreational drug either. I have plenty of fun without altering my mind in one way or another.

And the only drinking experience I had was a four loko and that doesn't count, shit was nasty though... beer is more for getting drunk fast and cheaply, if you want something that's more tasty you're probably gonna have to go and look elsewhere

The first time I ever got drunk was on Easter in Vatican City right after meeting the Pope. Good times.

Req, the point is, no one is trying to convince you to start drinking---this isn't a 1980s parental ad on peer pressure. We're just letting you know that there are are some absolute positives to it that you haven't considered. If you still don't want to do it, that's completely your choice. To me though you sound like I did at a young age and don't want to drink/'do drugs' because you refuse to consider what positives they may have in favour of the overwhelming negatives that we are blasted with as a society constantly. Yes, drinking/drugs can be bad, we get it. Honestly speaking? I kind of regret never having smoked weed just to try it out a few times. I was very proud of myself for many years have never done it but now seeing it becoming legal in many places and knowing that unless you yourself have an addictive personality/abuse it much like anything else can be abused, there are no truly harmful side-effects, I feel like simply missed out on an experience due to my closed-mindedness. You draw your own lines on what you deem acceptable or not, and whatever choice you make is fine, but objectively speaking so long as a recreational drug does not hurt you nor anyone else and one has the capability of responsibility surrounding it (read: 'legal age') I don't see a problem with it.
