On the whole medal count thing: Golds count way more than any other medal. Winning is more important than competing, any high level athlete who's competing for Olympic gold knows this. A very American way to see things, and imo the best one. And tennis > badminton > pingpong, no argument possible. As a tennis player, I agree.

Volleyball is like all technique aside from your ability to jump and cover space on defense. I know some incredibly skinny, lanky dudes that can hit the fuck out of the ball and dig anything hit at them. Now, if you are like 5'9" or shorter then I can see hating volleyball.

Nah I'm like 184cm. Maybe my technique was wrong but I did what everyone always said and it just hurts lol.

I don't know that I've ever met a guy who started playing volleyball thinking 'I'm going to be a sick libero.' I know some girls that took to it early because they start organized play earlier in general, but dudes not so much. Generally a libero is a guy that was a setter or a super athletic hitter that finally reached a level of play where not being 6'4" starts to just be too much to overcome, even with a sick vertical(probably because the 6'4 dudes are now all jumping just as high). Also, even most national level liberos are like 6 feet tall. I mean, the libero for the US men's national team that won in Beijing was 6'4." Even basketball is historically a more 'short person' friendly sport than volleyball.
