Unfortunately, i think TIME's run is likely going to end here unless reynor wants to play protoss. Now that they are teammates its likely Reynor has a pretty good understanding of TIME's styles and strategies.
It would be a great run for TIME no matter winning or losing.
I also like Reynor's chances a lot more as the last foreigner still in the field.

As cool as Oliveira's run was, this is probably going to be a brutal slaughter.
Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes.

Or maybe it's just about lunchtime in EU.

Serral won his world championships while looking dominant in ZvZ, I didn't have high hopes for him after watching the groupstage.

I was rooting for Reynor and herO this time, anyway.

Well, even ESL was implying that IEM was not "legit" because they cut the entire prize pool by 50%.

At the time he shakes his head he is down 3 army supply.

If he retreats with the 4 roaches he has on top of the ramp in his nat and wait for reinforcements + a temporary drone pull he holds it off somewhat easily (although the economy difference will be evened out somewhat).

At the exact time he GG*ed, yeh it was pretty tough but he given up doing anything 5 seconds prior.

He was down 3 army supply while 20 of his army supply were in production, i.e. dead.

No that's why you retreat further back and then pull drones. You just need to win a few seconds there. Most of them were just about to pop out. Serral not even attempting to retreat indicated he wasn't aware just how much he had in production.

There is almost zero chance he doesn't survive that engagement if he does that.

I see him shaking his head at 2:51:14 in the vod. He has 42 army supply of which 26 are not on the field, 6 queens and his last couple of roaches are surrounded. He has nothing to retreat with.

yeah also a lot of Ragnaroks army supply was also in eggs or crossing the map. At the time Serral left he was maybe down 4-5 Roaches which can be easily stalled with a drone pull and he had 12 Roaches in production while Ragnarok was only reinforcing lings. I stand by it, the game was over in Serral's favor

That's not exactly fair. They can't offer the same amount of money when they are making only a fraction on the event that they normally do.

Though I suppose that same logic applies to that tournament costing a lot less as well.

I don't know. Like I said, I want to say Reynor's IEM trophy is legit, but that "offline" qualification is bound to pop up in the future. So might as well just accept it's going to happen.

I personally consider it half a world championship because it was online. Not a knock on Reynor, he played so well and is clearly capable of winning an offline world championship, but there will always be that asterik on that win.

Ehh, hasn't Reynor also been a finalist at the last three world championships? I get the sentiment with the online component, but that win was well-deserved considering who he played

Reynor doing the smart thing of taking OL speed when youre the superior player. Why not pay 100/100 for full scouting info.

The peak of 2 starport BC play is still TY beating Serral with 2/1/1 into surprise 2 port BC.

We will have 1 foreigner in the semi-finals - the winner of this match. Last year we had 3. Are foreigners getting worse or are Koreans getting better? Or just luck?

Being a finalist doesn't count for much in SC2's GOAT conversations.

Nah, that stupid scrappy game Innovation won vs Serral takes the cake.

Somewhere much lower down the list is Oliveira vs Reynor game 1.

Good point. This may have been the major part of Serral's rationale for gg'ing. It seems unlikely that he thought he would not hold the push eventually, even with some losses. Probably he thought after defending he would be massively behind in economy, whereas in actuality they would be on roughly equal footing.
Mutation complete.
