Reynor has dodged ZvZ all tournament thanks to bracket luck. It's not fair to say he looks better than Serral does when Serral only looked shaky in one match up.
Insane amounts of bracket luck is inherent to standard SC2 formats. Can only judge ppl by who they face

Reynor is the last player remaining in the tournament with a chance to tie that record.
But one trophy by Reynor is still questionable, right even it is legit? Because the whole tournament was conducted during the online era.
Having watched that tournament run, I don't want to give him an asterisk for that trophy but I can understand why others might.
The IEM Katowice 2021 championship run by Reynor is as legit as an offline one imho. Shouldn't be discredited just because it took place during COVID times. He had a gauntlet slew of opponents - Stats, Dark, Maru and Zest - players on all sides had ping and latency issues and mishaps.
Yea I agree.
But that said. Offline vs Online has been a distinction for YEARS in SC2, it's also not fair to just exclude IEM Katowice from that distinction just because it was a good tournament.
We count Reynor's online cup the same as an offline and we should start reevaluating how we count EVERY online championship.
It's a can of worms. I can understand why it's best to just leave it as an asterisk and call it a day.
I don't understand Oliveira's game plan honestly. He's not really getting any initiative so far in either game, he does very economic and slow openers. He's going into Reynor's comfort zone and just falling behind easily.
I don't think people are discrediting the run itself but moreso the very idea that you could have a World Championship in just about anything played online - because the offline/online difference is very real much beyond just inevitable cross server issues.
Oh yeah for sure. Immense pressure, nerves, live audience viewing, distractions, noise, mentality, also timezone travel differences (for some players more than others), etc. It was either that or not having IEM Katowice 2021 taking place, though.

Treating it like any other world championship is fine outside of discussions of how Reynor stacks up against other great players of history, imo.
Reynor is just toying with him here honestly. The game would have been over a while ago if he just stopped himself from counter-attacking with small forces for a while and just properly crushed him once.
