On February 28 2021 07:24 Poopi wrote: Puma spammed it a lot but mostly all terrans ended up using it as well It got nerfed and I’m not sure who figured it out but it turned out that 1 gate expand countered it because the eco boost you got from that build kicked in sufficiently to give you more grunt to hold it vs the 3 gate expo builds that were still common then. So in a sense it definitely helped push the Protoss meta along | ||

Different match ups. We can't really use his victory over Dark to gauge how he's going to do against a different match up. All we know is that he 2-0'd Dream in the Group Stages (who is no Maru but he's no slouch either) and won 2-1 over HeroMarine. Maru meanwhile won a close 2-0 to Solar (he BARELY won game 1, that should have been a 2-1 honestly) and crushed Rogue convincingly 3-0 in the quarter finals. They both look strong in the match up, but comparatively speaking, Maru's defeated much stronger players in TvZ than Reynor has in ZvT in this tournament. If Maru's in form tomorrow I'd say he has a slight edge. Still I think it will be a 3-1 or a 3-2. I doubt we're gonna see another 3-0. | ||

I think it would be close but slightly Maru favored offline (since Maru seems to play at normal level, I guess skipping ST helped him with his injury). Cross server I think it’s slightly Reynor favored but Maru has a shot still. | ||

Reynor's games against Dream were total domination and he's been on a really intense practice regime. Maybe I'm just biased, but I'm certain he can manhandle Maru. | ||

If you watch him against any Korean Terran, where he plays at normal hours with no lag issues, he has looked invincible for a while now. | ||

Just because we don't hear much from the Korean scene about their practice doesn't mean that the Koreans haven't done the same. So many were confident that Rogue would beat Maru, and look how it turned out. At the top level, the margins are so incredibly thin/tight that any small mistakes can cost games.
