On behalf of Raise Your Edge Gaming, I am pleased to announce that the SC2 Royal has returned for the sixth edition of the tournament.
The RYE SC2 Royal #6 will feature a unique and compelling squad-based format. All Starcraft 2 teams are invited submit squads of 3 players each, and players who are not submitted as part of a team's squad may band together to form "merc squads."
To determine seeding for the bracket stage, each squad will choose two of their three players to compete in a round-robin stage which will test their 2v2 skills. Once seeded, all squads will then compete in a single-elimination 1v1 (Proleague-style) bracket.
Team owners who would like to submit their squad(s) and merc squads who would like to register should contact CreightonOlsen on Discord (CreightonOlsen#4323) in advance of the deadline.
Prize Pool
1st place squad: $1,500
2nd place squad: $750
3rd place squad: $300
4th place squad: $150
A $100 bonus will be awarded to each 2v2 team which places 1st in their group in the seeding stage.

That sound absolutly amazing. 1: is manly for Professional teams, helping out the team scene 2: realy inovative format 3: some 2v2 in there as well Absolutly love the idear. Thx to RYE and Creighton
E: with the Final beeing a Bo9, will we see some ladder maps from the last season(s) there or will we get 2 maps twice?
Also can someone pressure Heromarine, Showtime and Lambo into participating in this and forming an an all german merc squad, as neither of them is in an actuall team with multiple SC2 players? I miss NW

I Don t see a world, where Liquid isn t sending in a Team tbh. They habe a lot of depth and I also recall Harstem, Clem and uThermal participating in some 2v2 Tournaments earlier this year. So I Don t think the Players would why away from this more experimentell Team league Setup either
Some keen-eyed players have noted that the NA qualifiers for TSL6 are on also on December 2nd, just a few hours before the Ro32/Ro16. Don't worry - we will make accommodations for players that are in both tournaments! Please don't let concerns about missing your matches in the RYE Royal prevent you from signing up.
Squads will be announced on Monday after registrations close!! Two reasons:
1. Some squads are still jimmying with their rosters and I don't want to lock them in with an announcement. 2. To maintain competitive integrity. Don't want to let anyone know who they might be facing so they can plan counters.
Registrations close at 1200 CST on Monday, and I'll try to have an announcement out an hour or two after that.
It's finally here! I am so pleased to announce that 21 squads have registered for the SC2 Raise Your Edge Royal #6!
Squads can be found on the Liquipedia page for the event, with the 2v2 seeding stage groups on the second tab. Let me know what you think of the incredible talent that has signed up.
Interesting notes!
Eleven byes will be awarded in the 2v2 seeding stage. This means that the top two teams in each group will earn a bye (top three teams in Group E)
Remember that a $100 bonus will be awarded to the five teams who place at the top of their group in the seeding stage.
Of the 21 squads, 14 different SC2 teams are represented! Not bad.
Foreign language casting spots for the entire event are still open. If you'd like to cover all the action in your native language, reach out to CreightonOlsen#4323 on Discord right away!
The seeding stage takes place this Wednesday at 19:00 GMT (+00:00), and will be streamed on:
Wow, amazing turnout, this will be amazing. Liquid > RYE > Cascade are probably the favorites. Exon 2 seems to be stronger than exon 1 Edit: Underneath is a list of all entered Teams ranked by their Alligulac score: The Rankings from CSO eSports 1, 2, 3 have to be taken with a grain of salt, as all their players have a very small data set of played games and all lost all their Tournament games as well, indicating their real scores are actually lower. Big kudos to those 9 players to still sign up for this, I wish them all the best and some great fun playing against the pros. I m also super excited for the Alpha X youngling Team, this is what makes it even more special.

exon Squad 4, 5 and 6 are not realy playing for money there. Top 4 teams get paid and they have abslutly Zero chance to get there. For Exon 3 that would ba almost impossible as well and even Exon 1 or 2 need some luck with the Matchups to defeat the Top Teams.
@dbRic1203 - I was really hoping someone would do this! Thought it might be inappropriate for me to do that math as the organizer. Really cool breakdown. I'm expecting the 2v2 seeding stage to throw a few spanners into the works - I've heard that a few squads have been sneaking in a LOT of 2v2 practice to get a better seed out of the gate.

I m just realy excited for this tournament. It s quite a bit different from the standart tournaments we get, wich is allways exciting. I m realy looking forward to the 2v2 stage as well, if some teams realy put the practise in, we could see some upsets there for sure :D
Small competitive update: GdA Team unexpectedly had one of their players leave the team. The American zerg player Reaper has been replaced by the French zerg player ShinO. Roster changes are not sanctioned by tournament rules, but as admin, I'm allowing this minor change. Other teams in Group B of the seeding stage have been notified.

BOOOO, that ruins my entire analysis Shino has a rating around 1800, so it would put them up slightly higher, infront of IndyK Crew, so it s 2 spots in a range that could as well be heavily skewed anyways, because there are a lot of non Full time players on that level anyways.

I'm not saying they're here for the money, I'm just saying that sending 6 teams is a bit of a stretch anyway ^^
Not all teams have so many great players in their rosters.

Why should they not send their amateurs to play as well? With exon filling 6 squads, they get a hugh range of player levels in there. Otherwise the smaller teams just would get destroyed instantly by RYE or Liquid, now the have at least a chance for a competitive match vs Exons amateur roosters. I honestly don t understand what your problem is, sorry. More competitors is allways better in my eyes. And it s not like they will take spot 1-4 easily.
If you want to stick to you logic, I gues in Code S every Team also should only be allowed to send one Player Who is going to be this season for JAGW? Maru? Trap? Rogue? Defnatly not Creator or sOs, time to find a new team. Who is Afreeca going to send in? TY? Stats? DRG? Same with DPG. That would be just dumb, sorry.
The 2v2 seeding stage for the SC2 Royal #6 has finished! Congrats to the 2v2 squads representing Team Liquid, Raise Your Edge, Cascade Gaming, Team eXon (1), and Archangel Gaming for taking first place in their groups and a $100 bonus!
The seeds have now been assigned, and I am pleased to release our final Proleague bracket below! The Bo5 Ro32 and Ro16 will take place on Wednesday, Dec 02 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). And if that were not incentive enough for you to tune in, I can finally tell everyone that our sponsor, WD_Black will be giving away 3 internal SSDs (1 TB (SN 750 NVMe SSD)), and 3 external SSDs (500 GB (P50 Game Drive SSD)) during the Royal. Viewers who tune into our broadcast will be offered the chance to enter to win these fabulous SSDs. One will be awarded next week, one during the round of 8, and FOUR will be given away on our Grand Final broadcast. Tune in next week to find out how to enter.
All squads are required to submit the order of their first three players by Friday at 1200 Central Time, so squads will have a chance to prepare for the first matches they will face. Once I have collected all squad orders, I'll update the TL.net thread so we can make some predictions!
SC2 Royal/6 It s a bit weired that the Teams, that are allready seeded in Ro16 allready have their players exposed. So the teams that come from the Ro32 have an advantage over them.

Squads have 3 players max, and they all play atleast once. So that shouldnt be a suprise. As long as the maps dont the players play on dont already show it should be fine. Also the 4th and 5th player playing when needed is also not shown

Yeah, but the order they play is shown allready. So the teams coming from Ro32 know that for example for RYE Zest plays first Map, Drogo the 2nd and Bly the 3rd.

There is no advantage here - all teams have already locked in their roster for the Ro32 and Ro16. Teams in the Ro32 have already blindly submitted their initial roster for a potential match in the Ro16. Besides, this is an issue that will only persist for one week, as the number of registered teams forced the Ro32 and Ro16 to be played on the same day. I have received no complaints from any team about the fairness of the format.
RaiseYourEdgeGaming is getting HYPED for the Ro32 and Ro16 of the SC2 Royal #6 today. The proleague format featured in our event promises to bring us amazing games from our amazing squads.
As a reminder: our sponsor for this event, Western Digital, is starting the holiday season off right with a big giveaway during the SC2 Royal #6. Over the course of the event, we will be giving away six solid-state drives: 3 internal SSDs 1 TB (SN 750 NVMe SSD), and 3 external SSDs 500 GB (P50 Game Drive SSD). We're giving away an external SSD today, an internal SSD next week, and the remaining four SSD's during the semis and grand finals!
To win these SSD's, all you have to do is enter the secret keyword in Twitch chat during the chosen game! Which game? What's the keyword? Tune in to the SC2 Royal on RaiseYourEdgeGaming to find out.

Ok, then it s allright Great organising as always, thx Creighton
The last day of the RYE SC2 Royal #6 has been set! Please see below the initial matchups for the semifinals. We'll play all four series on Wednesday. Remember that squads will be required to follow the "all-play" rule, which means that all players must play their games evenly - Player A can't play their third game before Player B plays his second.
1. Team Liquid vs. Team eXon (Bo7) - 19:00 GMT (+00:00)
3. Bronze Match (Bo5) - 22:01 GMT (+00:00) (estimated)
The order of players for games 1-3 has been locked, but is secret until both semifinals are completed. Players for games 4&5 will be chosen on the fly.
4. Grand Finals (Bo9) - 23:00 GMT (+00:00) (estimated)
The order of players for games 1-3 has been locked, but is secret until both semifinals are completed. Players for games 4-9 will be chosen on the fly.
Raise Your Edge Gaming is pleased to announce a surprise guest caster for the final day of the SC2 Royal #6: RotterdaM himself will be joining CreightonOlsen to bring us the semifinals, bronze match, and grand finals today! One of SC2's best colour commentators joined by the most experienced analysis man on the planet: could things get any better?
Of course they could. Thanks to some generous support from Western Digital, we're giving away four solid-state drives during today's broadcast. Anyone in the world can tune in to win this sick WD_Black hardware! All you have to do is tune in to today's cast. During four games, our casters will give you a secret word to type into chat - simply type the word in chat during the game, and if you're selected send a twitch DM to our admin, who will hook you up with your prize.
As if that wasn't enough, to celebrate the grand finals, all merch in the RYE store is 20% off. Just use the code "ROYAL FINALS" when you check out to score some sweet egamer gear.
As you know, we were forced to prematurely end our live broadcast of the RYE Royal Grand Finals due to the overlap with the DH Last Chance Qualifier event. When we closed things out, Team Liquid was ahead of Cascade Gaming with a 3-2 score in the Bo9 series.
However, we have received the replay files for the rest of the series! Creighton will broadcast game six and onward on our Twitch channel on Sunday, Dec 20 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Be sure to tune in for the thrilling conclusion!
Team Liquid winning it in the end, not a big surprise but the final was pretty close. Thanks for Raise your edge for organising/funding the event and Creighton for not only casting but also coming up with a cool format in which a single player cant just solo carry a team to victory, breath of fresh air.
Always fun to see team events in which players that normally compete against each other in a very individualistic esport like sc2 are now cheering for each other and even playing together like we saw in the 2v2 seeding stage.
And last but not least thanks for the sponsor Western digital for sponsoring this event, I was the first lucky giveaway winner and even though I was cooking up a meal at the time and the stream ended when I came back. They still patiently waited until I responded while they could of just rerolled instead. GG's!
