It is funny how all 3 zergs ended up in the upper half of the Winners Bracket on EU. At least we will have a variety of matchups!
Also, the favourites seem to prevail in a round-robin format like these group stages, no big upsets imo, even though the mid-tier placements all came down to the wire.

Future lost to Pilipili so take this with a grain of salt.

No zerg but having to face uthermal is hardly an easy draw. Skillous would have probably been an easier draw. Imo it seems like Stephano would have been better off finishing 4th in his group since MarineLord, Hellraiser and Gerald look like easier opponents for him than uthermal. On top of that he would have to play either Showtime or Clem if he wins vs uthermal. Both of them seem like much harder opposition than Mana or Ptitdrogo (never mind Heromarine or Reynor if upsets happen).

I mean aligulac will just always predict the big fav to win like 3-0 or 3-1 no? Apart from the percentages it doesnt add much.. Also PiliPili beat Future 4-2 in a final of a tournament like 1,5 weeks ago, so even though he had a dreadful tournament the result wasnt too surprising imo. Pili was in great form until DH, and then sadly nothing seemed to work for him anymore

Well played Serral, that looked scary with the worse upgrades but having a better eco and more units helped.
1-1 now, first map loss from Serral.

1-1 now, first map loss from Serral. It's kinda fitting that his first map loss was to ling flood on Everdream.

I think players are missing a huge chance to perform ceremonies with the face cams.

Urghhh that facepalm from Serral, I felt that. it sucks when you prepared for an all-in and was ready for it but screwed up one small thing, and lost the game that you would have otherwise been able to stabilize. Obviously i'm not Serral, nor on his level.... but still feels bad when you make the mistake.

Lol, game 3 kinda showed who is better at ZvZ...

Man, that dismantling of Elazer was amazing to watch.

Still, I really like how well prepared Elazer is. He really comes out with a plan on every map. He should play in the GSL

This game 3 was so so impressive to watch. Serral being so calm and composed just after losing to an all-in and a big mistake! Elazer overcommitted once and he capitalized on it so well. O.O

Must be so exhausting to play against him mentally. What with him having his history, the sense of playing against such a top player and even when you do eke out a lead he barely ever falls apart and usually plays games out as close to correctly as anyone does.

That was a funny ending. :D
I think Reynor vs Mana will be fairly onesided, but Clem vs Showtime should be great (Showtime won a few times against him in the ESL weeklys lately) and Drogo vs Heromarine is kinda sweet as well since it will show how great Gabe is outside of the ESL weeklys.

that end was a 'LMAO rekt' moment
|
lol that ending was amazing. Felt like Serral was a puppet master and Elazer just had no free will, just death to his 30 drones at once
|
Mana playing so well in the second game, constant run-bys, 2 pronged attacks and lots of patience. gg wp
