I don't think balance did play any role in this. Clem did win the first series vs Reynor and did a few big misplays in the finals like sieging his Liberator on a spore or F2ing his Liberator in the other game which was parked behind the natural. Zergs other than Reynor and Serral don't seem to be dominating ZvT.
PvZ on the other hand is an entirely different story.

Yeah was just Clem not playing as well. First series Clem was rotating Liberators on point in late game while pushing with multiple bio groups and controlling his ghosts well and retargetting his mine drops and actually rotating doing this smoothly.
Expecting basically anyone to keep up that level of craziness that even two high Masters players playing Archon mode would struggle with was pretty unrealistic, he definitely didn’t quite hit those levels in the grand finals for sure.
I’m unsure what one could say about balance given how crazy good Reynor has shown for a while now and the levels Clem was showing. Clem would have crushed most Zergs in the world on his showing, Reynor would just smack Terrans trying to play like Clem was if they’re not constantly nailing split after split and little value gains via other micro.
Shades of ‘just play like Maru’ haha but the matchup looked pretty bloody good to me when you have two of the best in the world at it going toe to toe
