Don't make chicken salad out of chicken shit, please.
I bear this sig to commemorate the loss of the team icon that commemorated Oversky's 2008-2009 Proleague Round 1 performance.

Not sure about mechanics overall, but when it comes to speed I think Reynor is faster than Serral and Maru.

At least Rotti said he was mindblown when he saw Reynor play offline and he is the fastest player out there. And I'd say Rotti saw every top player there is play offline.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

I'm undecided whether Trap losing 4 probes to a scouted hellion drop that had to go in without a medivac was alright or more than it should have been.

We just never had a good chance to put that to practice.

Plus Reynor despite not doing badly has had as much succes in the GSLas Maru has on weekenders the time he played there.

Reynor was ridiculously young when he was in Korea lol. He hadn't broken out yet and he was still able to take series' off of the cream of the crop Koreans (classic comes to mind).

He was 16-17 right? Not that young, same as when Life, Leenock, Maru, Squirtle, TaeJa and the rest were first considered to be the best or among the best in the world.
Reynor and Clem aren't particularly early bloomer it's just everyone else who's just old as fuck lol

Well Katowice doesn't count either.

He was 15. Easy to remember because he played GSL but wasn't allowed to play WCS yet because of the age requirement of 16.

Reynor isn't close to Serral mechanically. The reason he can sometimes (and not often mind) beat him in ZvZ is usually down to tactics, of which Reynor is extremely abusive. Mirror matchups (across the board) are typically where mechanics matter the least. I'd bet on Serral to beat someone like Maru offline, but not Reynor.

The problem with what you say is that Reynor has never quite proved he's at that level mechanically. Maru has been the best in the world in that department enough times to give him credit. Not saying Reynor 100% isn't, but the responsibility goes on him to prove that.

I'm not so sure about that. I loved how Reynor used his Lings. Instead of just attack moving, he was microing them and actually getting a full surround on the mech army while chasing with his Roach/Ravager army while Terran was retreating.

I don't know what series your refering to, but sure his ling micro is great, but in terms of multitasking, creep/map awareness, reactions, injects etc I still think Serral is better.

Reynor's wins seem to come more from abusive unit comps and catching people with ling run-bys and surrounds. I'm not saying Reynor isn't great mechanically, just that he hasn't shown he's the best in the world which is essentially what the other guy was saying.

I'm not really feeling Trap's play today across the board.

Mechanics matter the MOST in mirror matches, contrary to what people thing.

You can't fall behind macro wise and you are stuck with the same units as opponent, so if you dont micro better you have a problem.

Youre right though Maru by far has the better list of accomplishments. Aside from not participating in the code S, though, reynor seems to be outclassing serral and many top koreans mechanically. Only dark at blizzcon made him look completely outclassed.

Reynor was 15 when he played his game against Classic. He might not be Life (who was The prodigy) but he was already quite impressive.
He is playing since he is 8, it's quite logic he is ridiculously good at the game. (generally, the sooner you begin, the better it is)

I should have known better than to get hyped for an online event :/ should have known TvZ would be too hard with high ping. Hopefully Trap can at least beat Clem in the rematch to make the ro8 more interesting.

Mechanics do matter in mirror matchups, but theres a lot of small things you can do to make them matter less. Playing in a different way of the norm, going for heavy damage early/midgame, etc.

Based on their streams and first person views I don't think so at all. It's way harder to keep up with what Serral and Maru are doing.

Wonder if anyone has screen-per-minute stats for these kind of things

It seems EU is slowly becoming the new South Korea in a sense that the advantage of better practice environment that Koreans had for all those years is now shifting to EU. There is now enough high level players and fresh blood in EU to allow the top players to improve collectively at a very high pace.
