Besides that routing can vary so much depending on a lot of factors. So even if you live in the same country/region your ping can vary quite a bit.

I think the argument is that it's much more forgiving for Zerg players in general to play with a delay, compared to T and P. Obviously Heromarine got shafted a bit.

Depends, Korean players usually have 180ms and Europe has at best 125 ms

That's what you do if you don't want to be relying on cross-tables. But if you are using crosstables then it's just too bad if someone's internet is worse than what their region usually gets.

I always think it's stupid to leave that choice to the players because if you're the Korean in that situation, you either have to decide to play on worse conditions out of "fair play" or choose what's best for you and look like an asshole.
Servers should just be alternating for everyone.
