I was there 3 years ago and had to basically run after the finals to catch the last tram out of Krefeld. It's really not perfectly thought out, because it's on "weekend" but with not much allowance for the impeding Monday.

My two cents is that people can't stand the fact Serral was undoubtly the best in the world(and most likely still is atm) despite not being a korean. Serral's is not especially great at lategame ZvT considering how strong he is overall, but he still is one of the best in the world, korean level. Ej, if I'm not wrong, said ONLY Dark could win a ZvT played the way TY did and Chairo said that was because only top players can beat top players(this way, Serral not capable of beating TY is like saying Serral is not a top player, and that's what triggered me). This time specifically, I kind of agree with Mariano, TY's TvZ(including lategame) is not as good as Maru's or Inno's.
I would argue Maru is the lategame TvZ specialist and that Inno's truest strength is in protracted middlegame - push games.
At this point, why is it so shocking a top player isn't korean.
It has been 9 years of world wide competition, I am not surprised a top player isn't korean.
I think it is a tribute to how fucking good and talented the korean baseline is.
In chess all of the old monopolies have fallen at the very top (despite Russia having by far the most GM's, IM's and FM's).
I don't buy the genetic arguments (not saying you said put forth one) in mental sports, I do buy into the cultural and linguistic advantages of some regions thou.

In terms of attention from the community, foreigners have to do half as much as koreans to get hype. Probably less than half actually. They can literally win one big match/event and the community will take years to stop talking about it. Even if 9/10 times they lose.

This HSC I feel like there is too much casting do by the actual casters. Sure, they have all the great guys, but I would prefer more space given to players. But maybe they are getting a bit bored of the whole shtick?
