I'd be curious how he fared against one of Maru, TY, Gumiho. However, as has been shown in this tournament he definitely is weaker (and by that I mean mortal) in ZvZ so it does beg the question as to how well he'd do against one of Dark or Rogue. Are you talking about Serral? He's already beaten Dark at GSL vs World. (And Inno beat Rogue 3-1 and then got 3-0'd by Serral.)
But then Neeb 3-1'd Rogue, in an unfavoured matchup too. So there's that.
The other interesting thing would be if soO somehow gets to Blizzcon. Would be fun to see him vs Serral.

This may have something to do with Has and Special collecting a ton of easy challenger points and being gifted stage 3 seeds.

This tournament really look like the passing of the torch for the foreign SC2 Snute retiring, liquid getting eliminated from Blizzcon, almost all of the old guard, the Nerchio-Bly-Snute-Stephano-Special-Harstem-True-Mana-Elazer ect... failling to go far and even Showtime, Neeb and Scarlett didn't do that well. I hope it's not over by any mean for any of them and they certainly can go back at the top, but it really look like it's time for a new generation of foreign starcraft who came to fruition with LOTV and we probably be the one to put "foreign" sc2 above Korean Starcraft. (Or at least play long enough to see it implode)

Reynor literally only lost to Serral in wcs this year

If Reynor manage to beat Nerchio in the Qlash invitational next week he will get a chance to go to the online final on his home turf in Italy where we might very well see a rematch of Reynor-Serral, could be hype!
By the way there is also a way for Snute to qualify for the offline final so maybe the retirement could wait a bit

Interestingly, I judge whether someone's an old guard by 2 criteria: 1) whether they were relevant during WoL (how long they've played the game) and 2) whether they're older than 24 based on that pretty neat research article suggesting that eye-hand coordination and other skills relevant for playing SC2 start to decline past 24.
So based on those criteria, I think Neeb (20), Elazer (20), and maybe Showtime (24) are still young and have only really started during HotS still have pretty good potential to do extremely well, while MaNa (24), Harstem (24), Scarlett (24), maybe SpeCial (25) are passing their peak age and have been around since WoL so their time are kind of running out but still I'd say have a good shot. The rest of the people you mentioned have been progamers since WoL and are past 25 (except Stephano, but he's kind of checked out) so they're the real old guard and yeah it's gonna be harder for them to stay competitive depending on their mental and physical fortitude.

Remember Serral's 2017 was three Ro8's and one 2nd place at WCS, which looks like Reynor's 2018 except Reynor was too young for half of the events and couldn't make Blizzcon.

This event is about as normal as WCS Valencia. Serral's usual dominance, cruising to the final. Someone who's lesser known from non-Korean Asia knocked out the usual European and NA names.
The older foreigner scene, Nerchio, Stephano, Special, and Elazer just weren't cutting it. People's attention ended as soon as the line-up in the final was announced.

The finals ZzZ series was one of the most talented and exciting ZvZ series I have witnessed between SC1 and SC2. Serral and Reynor are soooo good. 2019 is looking to be an amazing year of Starcraft if this keeps up.

Serral's run is way more impressive than Neeb's one of the last year: -Serral won 4 WCS, Neeb 3 -Serral reached the semi of IEM Katowice, Neeb was stomped in that tournament and not even able to escape the group stage (he ended the group in last place, losing to Stats,TY,alive and jjakj) -Serral and Neeb both won a tournament in KR,but Neeb did it on the back of a single MU while Serral won it all 3 vs top players -Both Serral and Neeb got 3d place in WESG
Not only Serral has been more successful in foreignland due to his 4th consecutive win, he has been better than Neeb even vs Koreans due to his deeper Katowice run

Interesting definition of "cruising to the finals" after going the full distance in 2 consecutive bo5s.. Not to mention that being on the brink of defeat in 3 consecutive series and having to claw his way back in a decider map on multiple occassions is a rather unusual form of dominance... Calling Has a lesser known Asian is rather weird, too, given that he has barely missed any wcs ro32 in 3 years and has reached the elimination bracket quite often. Never mind, that there has been a huge TL article posted about HaS prior to his Valencia run... Nerchio and Special reached the elimination bracket in Valencia (just like in the 2 previous events there is a reason they are going to Blizzcon).
Overall, you seem to have a rather unconventional take on pattern recognition.
