Detection was a major issue in that game too for him. I wish he had built more overseers. But yeah, Reynor had a massive mineral bank yet kept his static defenses and drone count really low.

As a Serral supporter, I thought that was scary for Serral as he was 20 army supply down because Serral had 20 more drones. I thought that wasn't a bad idea for Reynor as he had a huge bank, so less drones meant more army. But he couldn't get a good engagement because Serral played that pretty damn well.

IMO serral won this final only bcoz of Raynor's lack of experience. Game 6 was played by kiddo without decisiveness, like he thought the game would have been won by itself. Ofc that is a part of skill so i think the better player won. Anyway if Raynor is motivated to work harder after this loss, i predict him to be the hottest player of 2019. He is extremally good right now, but the thing is he keeps improving every month. (Last wcs, 0-3 rape by serral, this time just bearly 3-4 loss. tbh it is so good for serral that he stopped him from going to blizzcon, bcoz he may loose to him).
I'd love to see them as practise partners. I think, the only thing that Serral need right now is a little bit of Raynor's creazyness, and Raynor needs a little of Serral's cold head. If they learn from each other, we may see full foreigner ZvZ in GSL finals next year.
PS. I just realized combining them into one player would result in the reincarnation of Life, lol :D

Agree with others, Reynor had Game 6 if he kept up injects and made more defensive spines with 2 spores to detect at his mining bases. He probably never goes that late in ZvZ so didn't know what to do. Next year he will be ready.

At some point it was long time ago maxed out Reynor with 26 larva and Serral with 70+ larva.

Well duh, why did he stop? Were he not able to macro and defend versus Serrals roaches at the same time?

That game had a lot of stuff you could focus on to be honest. I'd love to see some GM-tier players do some replay analysis because I just couldn't keep up with everything that was happening.

Staying on top is very hard. The entire scene is trying to pick Serrals play a part, and he has to keep improving to stay on the top. Yes, he was lucky in some of the zvz matches. But the consistency, the calmness under pressure, his next gear that kicks in when he is about to lose, is just SO DAMN IMPRESSIVE. And being able to win all of these coin-flip-type matches is magic.
The level of play is just so high right now, and that is what keeps these zvz matches so close. Serral just has the extra factor.

What an historic achievement by Serral.
I think this tournament finally showcases that he's far from immortal, but he has an uncanny ability to claw his way back from games that seem hopelessly lost. The perseverance, the Finnish sisu is unrivalled. He knows that if he can just keep hanging on, he will eventually turn the tide.
Of course his four WCS championships mean that the rest of the rankings are all messed up. I'm not sure the system was designed for a scenario where one single player nabs all the tournament points and almost all the qualifier points. Had a few of the finals gone differently, I think we'd be looking at a very different Blizzcon lineup.

Wow just watched the match on VoD. What an impressive series... that game 6 was so crazy because you could see all the time that Reynors bank is way higher but he doesnt inject. That performance from Serral this year is real magic. If he can withstand the pressure on BlizzCon I see him winning it this year... having a foreigner win BlizzCon would really be one of my dreams I guess xD

in lategame Zergs often neglect injects because they think they have enough larva saved up from all the hatcheries they have.
Also it's possible that he brought his queens to the fight and didn't replace them, that also happens quite commonly.

It's also a common mistake. Snute used to do it every time and lose games, because of it ;o. There's no reason not to inject if you have the hands for it, that's why Serral is so amazing for doing it in-between all the fights.

Still no TL article on Serral winning WCS? Just feels weird, usually (small) news are up after a short while.
As for the Larvae... damn I didn't even notice that. That's a huge difference. It might also be that Serral killed some Queens, since he only had 2 at the time of that pic? I'm not sure, I only watched the game live.
