So let's see.

My picks:

Group A:

Maru/TY/Gumiho. Dear didn't look good in his last GSL group, Showtime and Special are outclassed in this group IMO. Tough draw for them, getting 3 of the 4 horsemen in their group.

Group B:

Dark/Innovation/Hurricane or Solar.

Group C:

Zest/Rogue/Impact

Zest and Rogue have pedigree. Impact looked outrageously strong when he qualified over all of the other contestants in the Korean qualifiers.

Group D:

sOs/Classic/Trap

The Protoss players in this group are just stronger than the opposition, however Elazer can be a definite dark horse. He looked really good at Pyeongchang, maybe can show some more of that form.

So far I've gotten 2/3 in every group. Zest and Innovation are in true and proper slumps now I did NOT expect that to happen and Dear got his mojo back from his ousting at the GSL which is another surprise.

I fully expect Group D to end up with 3 Protoss advancing. Trap is 0-2 right now but that doesn't surprise me considering the two matches he lost were to the other 2 Protoss in the group.

Zest has been in a slump for a year and a half now.

Zest is getting better he just needs to figure out PvZ, he got nowhere near top 8 GSL last year.

He's still managed to get to the Ro8 in GSL. I honestly can't predict him right now. He looks SO weak vs Zerg in the last few tournaments but he's still good vs Terran and Protoss unless it's Neeb apparently.

not sure I'd take a series where he's already eliminated too seriously

sOs doesn't respect Elazer to even do anything weird against him lol, just beats him with straight up meta macro game.

2 base glaives isn't "straight up meta macro game"

I was counting on Sos for entertainment, though.

For sOs it's pretty damn normal, he just used the Glaives for minor harassment and to keep Elazer from Zergling all inning him. He beat him with Immortal/Archon/Storm/Zealot which is about as meta as it gets.

Are 2-base all-ins the current fad in TvP these days?

what was he supposed to do for it to be non-standard? mass oracles and lose?

It's Ryung. He can't hang with Trap in a proper macro game and he knows it.

Not necessarily, but they've grown in popularity a lot since the double forge gateway builds became meta.
