Nerchio is just honest. Losing to Stats is okay for him, so he can congratulate him. If he lost to Pili skytossing him again or something, the salt would be real!

The point is that losing vs Stats this way was painful for me and Byun, we got outplayed really hard and it felt like we had no chance

Yeah, makes sense to me. People are just not used to nice tweets like this from you I guess.

By 'people' do you mean few random haters on TL?

Pretty much :D

They have to think hard nowadays to come up with reasons to hate.

It's probably the same people that think that having brackets full of Koreans will make the game more popular

You just can't change it. Some people just always want a full Korean bracket, even if it meant that the quality of games would be worse.

Lol. People want brackets full of Koreansbecause Koreans are almost univerally better players that produce more exciting games. Unless you change the DNA of these players or give foreigners true drive/skill than it won't change anytime soon

The importnant part in what you wrote here is ALMOST.

The sad thing is, some people just want foreigners to fail, regardless of skill.

Some people would've been happier with Patience and TRUE getting out of group C over Serral and Nerchio for example. Just for the reason that they are Korean.

Do they? I thought foreign hopes always got the most hype around them. Lilbow at blizzcon, neeb at kespa cup, scarlett in GSL etc

Just talking about a minority!
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

I guess. although i will admit watching nerchio lose to koreans is funny to watch even if he's the foreign hope. maybe thats just when he plays vs Maru lol

First we'd need someone like that. Then we'd need them to get opportunities to prove themselves against Koreans.

Broadly speaking yeah, but they also get tons of venom on TL, reddit, etc.

It's cool to have foreign hopes, though I think they immediately cause the casters to overhype them.

Foreigners always getting overhyped is one of the reasons I often cheer against foreigners.

Agreed. Having basically the best Koreans and the top foreigners competing in the same tourney is always the most fun. We don't get enough of it any more.

It really is. sadly some people just wanna see full brackets of nothing but foreigners though

Oh totally. Same with people who only want Koreans. Players like Nerchio/Showtime are good enough to compete with most Koreans so I don't know why people wouldn't want them around.

We would first need more global events though. From now on we will only see Scarlett in GSL and then BlizzCon.

Plus the Korea vs World event I guess.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Ah cmon that's just not true. It's just that personally i followed the korean scene way more and thus have more players i care about in that scene. It's as simple as that. Why did i pretty much only follow that scene? Because it was (and still is) the scene with the highest lvl of gameplay, the most content, the most interesting tournament structures, etc.
People care for the players they watch a lot, it's really as simple as that. If blizzard would have been actually good at their job of creating an interesting WCS scene and thus helped develop the foreign talent/star players i would probably also have a lot of foreign players as my favorites. It was done very poorly though.

Who doesn't want them to be around? As long as they deserve to be there and don't get a charity seed or something like that I don't think anyone has a problem with them being there.

Yeah. The lack of interest in Starcraft has almost nothing to do with Koreans though. If fewer people play a game over time it will have significantly less viewership. League, Dota 2, Csgo etc have orders of magnitude more players playing the game/interested in general. There really is no secret here

I think you can't do much better than IEM this tourney both in terms of format and korean/ foreigner ratio

Who doesn't want them to be around? As long as they deserve to be there and don't get a charity seed or something like that I don't think anyone has a problem with them being there.

snute was like 17th wcs place iirc before they started region locking cups. he almost got to blizzcon without any charity tournaments. I fully believe that nerchio, showtime, scarlett etc with their current skill level would be able to get in without region locked cups giving out WCS points
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

People who cheer for Koreans do it for the skill; personality second. People who cheer for Foreigners do it for personality first. Then skill (for that foreign "hope").

No doubt, I also cheer for skilled foreigners; but let's be honest and admit that foreigners who can go toe-to-toe with Koreans is extremely rare.

Neeb has no personality to cheer for so I assume this means people cheer for his skill, right?
