Nerchio is just honest. Losing to Stats is okay for him, so he can congratulate him. If he lost to Pili skytossing him again or something, the salt would be real!

The point is that losing vs Stats this way was painful for me and Byun, we got outplayed really hard and it felt like we had no chance

Yeah, makes sense to me. People are just not used to nice tweets like this from you I guess.

By 'people' do you mean few random haters on TL?

Pretty much :D

They have to think hard nowadays to come up with reasons to hate.

I think last year he kinda brought it upon himself with the comments on korean players, him changing the perception of foreigners etc.

There was nothing wrong with anything he said though, if anything we need more confidence in players and more players that are willing to make statements like that.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

It's probably the same people that think that having brackets full of Koreans will make the game more popular

having brackets full of foreigners doesn't do it either

You just can't change it. Some people just always want a full Korean bracket, even if it meant that the quality of games would be worse.

Edit: Anyway, you gained way more fans than haters in LotV and should just keep going. Great perfomance again!!!

Lol. People want brackets full of Koreans because Koreans are almost univerally better players that produce more exciting games. Unless you change the DNA of these players or give foreigners true drive/skill than it won't change anytime soon

I didn't say there was, but you can't trash talk players everyone love and then lose to them and expect to not get hate. Especially when you're known for being a generally salty player, haters will prioritize you

Koreans also produce tons of shit games. There were a lot of fun games in WCS last year. Showtime vs Nerchio was a more enjoyable tournament finals than most of the ones we get in Korea.

It's unfortunate that the amount of tournaments for non-Koreans is so low this year (so far), their scene developed a lot in 2016.

No one wants that. People want open brackets so they can see the best 16 or 32 (or whatever) players in the world compete. and if some of them aren't korean thats a benefit. The region lock got backlash beacuse it was basically 32 players we know are not the best competing.

The importnant part in what you wrote here is ALMOST.

The sad thing is, some people just want foreigners to fail, regardless of skill.

Some people would've been happier with Patience and TRUE getting out of group C over Serral and Nerchio for example. Just for the reason that they are Korean.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Really not something that should have been difficult though. Even Dreamhack, the ultimate tournament organizing mess, managed to have a B-stream at every tournament.

So if some Korean games are boring are the boring foreigner games disregarded?

.

How is it that xenophobia is still alive. Foreigners deserve credit for their play and level atm but I don't see any issue concerning tournament organization.

Agreed. Having basically the best Koreans and the top foreigners competing in the same tourney is always the most fun. We don't get enough of it any more.

It's probably the same people that think that having brackets full of Koreans will make the game more popular

You just can't change it. Some people just always want a full Korean bracket, even if it meant that the quality of games would be worse.

Lol. People want brackets full of Koreansbecause Koreans are almost univerally better players that produce more exciting games. Unless you change the DNA of these players or give foreigners true drive/skill than it won't change anytime soon

The importnant part in what you wrote here is ALMOST.

The sad thing is, some people just want foreigners to fail, regardless of skill.

Some people would've been happier with Patience and TRUE getting out of group C over Serral and Nerchio for example. Just for the reason that they are Korean.

Or because they like Patience and TRUE more than Serral and Nerchio.

I think Nerchio is aware that him posting on twitter after losing is almost a meme, and he's now gonna post positivity in some meta responce

Do they? I thought foreign hopes always got the most hype around them. Lilbow at blizzcon, neeb at kespa cup, scarlett in GSL etc
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

So if some Korean games are boring are the boring foreigner games disregarded?

.

How is it that xenophobia is still alive. Foreigners deserve credit for their play and level atm but I don't see any issue concerning tournament organization.

Who are you talking to exactly?

Nerchio himself said he would want more global events and I am also always in favour of global events.

The tournament format for this IEM was amazing, best in a looooong time!
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

I think you can't do much better than IEM this tourney both in terms of format and korean/ foreigner ratio

Agreed. Having basically the best Koreans and the top foreigners competing in the same tourney is always the most fun. We don't get enough of it any more.

It really is. sadly some people just wanna see full brackets of nothing but foreigners though

Broadly speaking yeah, but they also get tons of venom on TL, reddit, etc.

It's cool to have foreign hopes, though I think they immediately cause the casters to overhype them.
