Do you know why INnoVation is playing? It seems that he was already qualified for the main event according to his interview after winning IEM Gyeonggi.

I don't know, I'm not in charge of anything about IEM :\
But afaik nobody is already directly qualified for Katowice, at most he's already qualified for the Stage 2 of the Korean Qualifier

Which he isn't, the Korean qualifier stage 2 is just the 8 Blizzcon players.

Then Inno was wrong, nobody is qualified for Katowice as of now.
uThermal(IEM Shanghai 1st) and innovation(IEM Gyeonggi 1st) have guaranteed for Ro64 in Katowice with flights and accommodation. And if they want to participate to online qualifier, it is possible.
If uThermal(IEM Shanghai 1st) or innovation qualify in online qualifier, they can go directly to Ro 24 in IEM Katowice.
Maru could've easily qualified from NA/EU, definitely dodging INno in GSL event
Could be he doesn't want to play with lag. Inno looked a bit sloppy today playing on EU.
Given his record lately, I don't really think Maru should be scared of anyone. Ofc on the flip side I doubt anyone would be really enthusiastic about playing 11 games against Inno if they didn't have to.

In that case they'd replace him in NA stage 2 with the next player in the WCS standings for 2016 from the NA region, right? If their schedule allows it. Next in line would be Major.
Surprised Inno didn't drop a single map tho, his opponents are some of the better EU Zergs and playing KR to EU (or the other way around) has absurd ping.

Ok, could be a really stupid question, but how does IEM imagine it will fill out those 64 spots for the offline qualifier? As i see it 12 players get paid trips, and they expect 64 more players to make the trip on their own expense to Katowice? We don't even have that number of pros with teams willing to pay flights+accomodation.

It will probably be filled with local amateurs.
That will really hurt the image of the tourney, let alone make SC2 look bad. For a Global, i would expect more spots to be paid, since it's meant to be a one-off meeting of the top players from around the world.

If 96 spots can be taken by players in some exotic places like Jonkoping or Valencia then its much easier to gather 64 at a more important event in Central Europe - not to mention lower prices in Poland. Although the length of the stay may be an obstacle, unless you plan to drop out during the first weekend.
How do the offline qualifiers even work? I still don't get it.
Offline qualifiers will take place one week before finals in Katowice. Eligibility is based on wcs points and/or ladder rank. (for ex. Master player will have priority over Diamond player) 64 players will play in a double elimination bracket for 12 spots in the finals.

The same way Dreamhack does it, I guess (they even have 96 players instead of 76)
Snute vs Innovation in Stage 2... that's off to a tough start, Jens. But you can do it! We already have tickets for Katowice, so actually you have to .

Maybe. Dark is probably the only real threat on his side of the bracket. If he loses to him he's gonna run into a bit more trouble in the loser bracket though. After all, herO, TY, Maru, ByuN, Zest, ByuL and Solar are on one side of the bracket. Some of them could beat Inno.

It would have been much better for everyone if INno got seeded directly to the main event itself
I don't think its the greatest system, but I understand now why Inno bothered smashing a bunch of foreigners. I can't blame him for not wanting to risk losing a Bo5 against Dark, or trying his luck against a stacked loser's bracket.
It's possible but pretty much a coinflip, even for him.

You will always have to make a choice in KR qualifiers. Neither choice will be fine. :[ lose one hand or the other.
Also ByuN 1-0 Solar; INno 0-1 Trust - just trying to update in case not streamed.
...I don't get why ByuN did not sign up for EU and NA qualis too to be 100% sure to be at Katowice and score some wcs points, especially after his fast gsl exit... lately he is not at his best and risking to not be in Katowice at all due to playing only in the KR qualis seems not a smart move...

given he plays like he did in the qualifier I will gladly have him in the main tournament.
Maru seems to be boxing himself in of his own accord, for some reason. We saw a similar thing happen on Echo. Granted, he managed to sneak a couple of serious drops by, but this time? I don't see that happening.
Whats goals for this qualifer? Snute, Classic, Inno?
I kinda want Elazer and Nerchio to not make it just because it's way easier for them to do the offline qualifer and get in that way. the online qualifer ideally would garantee KR/NA players can go

Well, if Maru or any other JA player wants to pay their own money, he can still go to Poland and play offline qualifier.
Besides, when it comes to individual offline tournaments, sOs is usually "the last hope" of JA, so there is no sadness or surprise involved here at all. La Cocaracha is not an affordable nickname for every SC2 player.
Maru recently got $100,000 the last time he went abroad for a tournament. I'm sure he can spare a small portion of that money to pay for his own travel/accommodations if he wants to.
Not to mention with his current form, he can go to Katowice with a reasonable expectation of winning more than enough money to offset his costs.
For the love of God, don't replace whoever gets out of the NA qualifier based on WCS Korea points. That would mean the first offer would be to MyuNgSiK and nobody wants to see him play SC2 again after his performance at GSL. Of course, that could give us Cure as option #2.

Just spent 3k+ on this one two months ago, which has since given me nothing but problems (I've had to remove my new graphics card and replace it with my old one already as well as some other stuff). I just fixed everything 2 weeks ago and now blue screens on echo / whirlwind. It's crazy, couldn't have come at a worse time, no way to fix it in the small downtime between qualifiers.
Tonight I'll do a fresh install once all my stuff has transferred off of my HardDrive etc ~~ So weird it only happens on Whirlwind and Echo and just started out of nowhere :/
I've seen GuMiho play a lot of TvT, on his stream and other players' streams. His marine/tank TvT is extremely strong. I have no idea why he goes mech on Whirlwind.

I'm pretty okay with this arrangement to be honest.

e: jesus that bracket 3: Bunny, Losira, Nerchio, Impact
I'm afraid Artur might miss out IEM
That's one way of looking at it. Another is that Nerchio really only needs to defeat Bunny to qualify.
Gonna be honest im gonna assume Losira/Impact aren't going. Also brackets might get changed a tad since i also expect RoRrO/WoodedMicrob/Silky/avilo/Bistork all aren't going XD

Maybe, maybe not. Truth is it would not change the brackets as they are based on seedings. Unless someone above decides to change them.
