Yeah, though I think the one shot and you're out format is a little too harsh/detrimental. With a loser's bracket you get a whole other bunch of cool storylines and of course fantastic games. Playing one of the hardest games - arguably one of the hardest possible games in the tournament - in the first round is tough on whichever player that loses, whereas other title challengers get comparatively easy ones.

Yeah, but what other sports' don't have single elimination? I'm really a big fan of these single bracket tournaments!
I think having a loser's bracket also takes the hype and intensity out of day 1 (as well as makes it a degree harder to follow).

I have little to no sympathy for someone who feels it's hard to follow a double elimination tournament. Sure you can try to sell me on intensity of single elimination and I don't dispute that but my god what a terrible circumstance it is that your first round matchup can vary between the reigning GSL champ/world's best Terran and that guy who PvP'd out sOs at a Dreamhack two years ago by the margin of one two rax and that is YOUR ENTIRE TOURNAMENT. Doesn't matter if you are the best Zerg in the world, you got screwed by seeding and there is no way to recover.

I don't, they qualified for this through other events they already got WCS points for

I don't know if this matters but some of the players got 2014 WCS points for their IEMs and some of them got 2015 WCS points

Guys, give it a rest. People lose, even if they are really good. Especially if they play against very good players.

This discussion kind of reminds me about the "WCS Premier players cannot be considered good" thread... Life might be the best or one of the very best players in the world right now, but that doesn't mean tournaments should seed him into finals. If he loses he loses, plain as that.
Time to focus on the other players left. Who is going to stop Winnovation? Maru or herO or some dark horse like Dark or Horse Flash.

In g5, Life takes a huge engagement at his fourth. At the start of this engagement, Inno is maxed and banking over 1k minerals. Cut to the end of the fight, he's still sitting at 1k minerals and he's down like 30 supply despite the fight looking more or less even. If it were any other player, I'd just assume they failed to macro and be satisfied with that, but this is Innovation, forgetting to build Marines while he's attacking with Marines isn't really a thing that happens to him.

Kaelaris even pointed this out after the fight was over and he looked at the supply and he was like "I'll have to rewatch that game, something weird happened."

If anyone's figured it out or rewatches the series and has a theory, please reply here or PM me, I'm super curious.

I am sure that Life is jet lagged and is focusing more on his GSL games than IEM. He can care less about IEM or NSL because GSL is the most prestigious tournament in SC2. If Life cared at all, like Taeja, he would have beaten Dream in NSL and Innovation now.

No excuses, just the truth. Life lost to the time zones, not the player.

Liking single elimination brackets instead of double seems entirely normal. Don't people love those Saw movies? The human mind is an abyss.

They shouldn't "seed him into finals", but they should seed so we have a high chance of the 4 best players meeting in the semis. WCS points would be ideal if every player would actually play in the big ones.

I rewatched the vod, he never stopped building marines during the fight, I would assume Life managed to resupply faster with a lot of larva but I'm not sure.
