Give me your arguments. Nope. He's the best Maru is better! Give him the chance playing in DHs, HSCs and IEMs and he would be swimming in money already. Until I see him do it, Taeja is the best. No one wins more. He's the best. SC2 is the only "sport" where winning the most doesn't mean being the best to a large part of the fan base. Makes zero sense to me. Do you actually watch other sports? No one in their right mind would say the Rangers were the second best NHL team this season. There is such a thing known as "extenuating circumstances." Just because the Rangers won the weaker Eastern conference doesn't mean they're good. It means they won the weaker Eastern conference.
Is this going to eventually turn into another Barcelona/Real Madrid aren't good because they arent in the Premier League discussion?

Taeja clearly considers Blizzcon the ultimate test for him, winning that would be better than a GSL win anyway so it makes sense he'd aim for that.

Give me your arguments. I'd say he is the best, but with one small proviso. I think that on his own, Taeja is probably the most gifted terran player. He has great mechanics (even with his wrists), and has good strategic reads as well as "star sense". However, what Taeja lacks is a proper support system which the Kespa teams have (sorry teamliquid, i love you but kespa you are not). This is why in tournaments with preparation time, Taeja will be at a big disadvantage. I also think this is why Taeja mostly plays standard (very well). He does not have support that lets him prepare builds for people.
I don't remember where I heard it, but Taeja doesn't like the Kespa system. Some people do well in that system, some people don't. I would say that Taeja knows that he is in his element (Team Liquid), and he's performing to the best of his ability there. He has all the support that he needs.

I wouldn't say TaeJa doesn't do well in tournaments with preparation. He's made it to the semi finals of the GSL twice.
back on topic, that was an amazing finals. it's been a while that I've been kept on the edge of my seat like that.

34-0 isnt possible in 17 games. I was being sarcastic ;o

I agree. Great time to be an SC2 fan. Cheering for my favorite heros. One tourney ends and there is another. SC2 greatest eSport.

You're right, Taeja likes to sort of do his own thing. Which is good for Taeja personally, but when you just compare the support an average kespa player gets versus what Taeja gets, I don't think it comes close. I'm not hating on Taeja though, I think obviously him being able to do what he is doing without the full support of a kespa team just indicates his amazing skill at this game. I'm raising it more as an explanation why Taeja might not win tournaments with preparation time.

It is so easy: As long as you don't have an international, consistent league, like in football for example the Champions League, you will never be able to determine the best player at least for a season.
Or the system which existed back in BW days - you could easily determine that Flash or JD were the best, because everytime the best players in the world played, all had the same chances to qualify etc etc and in the end the same, best players won.

Still the most stacked individual tournament and that's a fact.

Isnt that almost exactly what Blizzcon is?

F*ck there's no break

is Blizzcon tougher than GSL?
when Taeja holds up the Blizzcon trophy will yall finally realize if he wanted to, he could have 5 GSL trophies in a row
hes just nice and lets others in korea get that prize

All 3 are amazing Terrans, but you cant just assume Maru would win in these environments just because you want to believe. I just want to answer to this never-ending "who is the best terran"-talk. It makes so much fun, discussing a whole life about the same thing, doesn't it? TaeJa, Maru, Bbyong, Polt, INoVation Top5 currently maybe, I would lay my head out of the window for that, but picking one of them is just silly. MKP was best Terran in the world before his break!

I disagree wholeheartedly. It may get less viewers now (is that a real statistic?) but people on the community still respect it for what it is: the hardest individual tournament in SC2

There was a period where he was the best Terran in the world (short period) but right before his break he was bad
