Taeja doesn't play any competition anywhere near what Maru faces.

Taeja hasn't won a single season of WCS America. That says all you ever need to know about how good Taeja actually is vs competitive competition.

Taeja was one of the strongest Code S players before WCS system. Very consistent.

I think he would still be a code S regular if he stayed in korea, probably ro8 or better material.

It's easy to look as though you're in top form when you're against inferior opponents.

Taeja hasn't played anything like what Maru faces in KESPA Code S Protoss players.

Taeja isn't up to that level. When it comes down to play at Blizzcon Taeja will prove this. He isn't up to this level, not even close. He wins because he plays in a lot of tournaments, not because those tournaments have competition that are up to his level.

Such a crock of shit, disregarding his dismantling of Korean Protoss players on numerous occasions in the recent past and he looks in close to his best shape ever of late.

As far as I'm aware he hasn't beaten a WCS KR protoss this year. He played sOs and Dear and lost both times according to aligulac. Taeja is entirely outside of the 'real' competition and just farms tournaments with poor attendance, 'best of the rest' kind of thing.

Let's be honest though. As comparatively weaker the competition is, even Maru/TY/Bbyong/Flash would be proud of winning a tournament without dropping a SINGLE map.

Of course. No one is debating that Taeja is really good (at least I don't think so), but I too question the validity of calling him the best in the world, period.

That said, this discussion should probably stop now.

TaeJa is no doubt really good player but tbh the players he face are way easier than kespa protoss players. MC is decent but compared to players like Classic, sOs, Rain, Zest etc he is just mediocre protoss. TaeJa would be good enough to win any of the players I feel but he wouldn't be dominant and I would favour KR region protoss players over him, like against any other terran besides Maru because I'm Maru biased.
Maru's decision making is off, that's correct but usually he wins his games with brute force even though he choose bad fights and builds (He has become way better with his decisions and builds after he joined JinAir tho)

i think jjakji's tvp is overrated, he hasn't consistently crushed faces in the match up like others have.
