I agree with that Disciple, although I think sOs has strong PvZ, if not more solid(Dear seems to be way better without any mindgames, his series against Jaedong was phenomenal until he fell apart near end.)
I think if Maru had made finals, he wins the whole tournament. sOs said his strongest matchup was PvZ, so it wasn't that surprising to me Jaedong won.
I'm also a bit upset people don't recognize that Jaedong is getting second place at increasingly more and more difficult tournaments . That's something to celebrate, not be sad about.

It's fucking boring if the same players are constantly placing high and winning every tournament. New fan favorites need to emerge for things to stay interesting. Just because he doesn't have a big fanbase now doesn't mean he never will, and it doesn't mean you should make 100 posts in this thread whining about how he's killing esports by not throwing the finals. Guess what, it's fucking boring when players you don't give a shit about win tournaments too. How did you start to give a shit about said players, enlighten me? When they give me a reason to. Like maybe winning the biggest tournament of the year? By gimmicking his way through the finals? No thanks. I don't blame him for playing the way he did, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Then its a good thing JD didn't win because he gimmicked his way to the finals by Roach Baneling all inning Maru all 3 games he won.

In BW, "hard skill" like micro and macro are all that matters. Hence a good player will be good throughout his career. SC2, on the other hand, somewhat focuses on "soft skill" like mind-game and building hard counter armies, which is much more dicey. So a legendary player in SC2 will not stay in legend for long. "Mind-games" also include a lot of luck (he thinks that i think that he thinks etc.), SOS got lucky, but his wins didnt entirely rely on luck, he is a really good player aswell. It could have also gone the other way round. "Luck"? that was hardly luck, if you see all the games sOs won, he clearly made JD play what he wanted to play, in fact, he made that in the one he lost, but JD took a chance and build mutas I think luck play a huge deal there, not in a offensive way, unscouted pylon at the last game or robotic bay are a few to named, yep every winners in sport need luck cause it just part of the game.

EDIT: News check for JD fans, he's fine. he's not slumping. just keep having faith, he'll win titles I think 2013 is the year of the Dong
I always try and remind myself of this. It's also 'but what if-' but seriously. Five finals in GREAT tournaments, and solid placements elsewhere.
Can we at least call him most consistent player ever and give him an award for that? Cuz it's pretty cool.

And if you guys constantly expect charismatic and fun players over "faceless" and supposedly dull players, SC2 just becomes WWE and the people who poured their hearts and souls into practice and studying the game are overshadowed by people who can speak English better or have funnier costumes. Just no. SC2 should be a celebration of skill and talent just as much as it is a scene of entertainment and fun, and if you feel a "faceless" player doesn't deserve a championship, you can just turn off the stream and not bleed your negativity into the LR thread.
They think guys like Flash, Jaedong, certain foreigners should be winning the tournaments when most of the time. These guys are going in unmarked territory. Jaedong will win in time. When you have to play against two of the scariest protoss players out there today in two days time. That's a pretty big fucking problem to overcome. That's why I was saying even though he managed to beat Dear. I'm sure he doesn't want sHy. Why go from one big problem right to the next one? More power to ya if you can pull it off, but God Damn. I don't think anyone would want to run into these two guys back-to-back. It's like climbing K2 only to find out you only got half way there and you have to go back down again. Especially when the conditions can change on a dime. It's a Fool's Errand.

Can we all agree that the amount of Protoss all-ins are ridulous and need to be addressed?

This tournament was nowhere close season 3 finals in terms of quality of games. I also cant help but feel that SoS wouldve lost if he had played at least another zerg before jaedong. As per usual the amount of lowrisk high reward options for protoss are overwhelming.

Dear is better than sOs skill-wise. But Dear decided to confront Jaedong with his skills, and barely lost.
sOs is smarter, decided to take risk advantages like cannon rush and hidden base. Luckily for him, it paid and he's now the "best protoss" in the world.
